Time to deal with underutilized schools
Oh, the indignity of it all.
The elementary teachers union, fixing for a fight over the potential closure of 48 underutilized elementary schools, will be rallying outside the board’s North York headquarters late Tuesday afternoon to protect underprivileged students.
They have scheduled their Official Grandstanding Manoeuvre just prior to the time when the 22 trustees will sit down at a special meeting to address the highly contentious school closure issue, or at least whine about how hard done by they are to have make decisions so quickly.
(Note to trustees: Your Feb. 13 deadline to implement the education minister’s 13 directives is looming and if you don’t, you might just find yourselves out on the sidewalk, along with your union pals, due to a provincial takeover of the board.) (more...)
