Tory hopeful told speaker’s dinner: Leon Brittan is a paedophile

Speaker Bernard Weatherill was stunned when a businessman told him privately in 1989 that former home secretary Leon Brittan was a paedophile.

Clive Harrington, then the owner of a successful insurance company, made the comments about Brittan at an exclusive dinner at the speaker’s residence in Parliament. He was invited because he was hoping to become a Conservative MP.  (more...)
