Elementary student shot 5 kids with pellet gun at Woodbridge school

York Regional Police have been notified after an elementary student shot several other students with a pellet gun during recess on Wednesday, the York Catholic District School Board confirmed.

The shooting took place at St. Gabriel the Archangel Catholic Elementary School in Woodbridge. The school board said the student was in a park adjacent to school property when he used a pellet gun to shoot five students who were playing on school grounds.

None was seriously hurt and they returned to class after being examined, the board said.

"The student in question will not be in the school pending an internal investigation into the incident involving our Safe Schools Superintendent," The YCDSB said in a statement to CBC News.

"We will also be working closely with the York Regional Police."  (more...)
