Teacher says she fell in love with student

Erin Osmond, charged with two counts
of sexual exploitation
A substitute teacher accused of sexually exploiting a 16-year-old student testified she fell in love with the teen boy as her marriage faltered.

Erin Osmond, 29, testified in her own defence in Saskatoon Queen’s Bench Court during the second day of her trial. Earlier Tuesday, her lawyer cross-examined the complainant and the Crown prosecution wrapped up its case.

“I was madly in love with him,” Osmond told court about the relationship with her former student. She said it went both ways as the teen wrote her love letters, poems and a song.

Osmond was charged with two accounts of sexual exploitation after the 16-year-old told RCMP he had sex with the teacher on four occasions between March and April of 2013. The complainant’s identity is protected by a publication ban.  (more...)
