The Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) said it is investigating 14 referrals detailing alleged corruption in the Metropolitan Police, which relate to child sex offences from the 1970s to the 2000s, after the move was disclosed by The Telegraph.
Last November, Vishal Mehrotra’s father, retired magistrate Vishambar Mehrotra, told the Telegraph that police had deliberately covered up his son’s killing to protect a network of high-profile child abusers.
After his allegations were passed to Scotland Yard, the Met Police launched an internal investigation into historic "corruption", which has now been officially referred to the IPCC.
