BBC radio presenters appear in court after being charged with sex offences against children


Two married BBC presenters dubbed the ‘Richard and Judy of local radio’ appeared in court on historic child sex charges.

Tony Wadsworth, 68, and his wife Julie, 58, are prime-time presenters on BBC Radio Leicester and also worked for BBC WM.

The couple, who host a weekend show, are accused of abusing four boys aged from 11 to 15 between 1995 and 1999.

The pair, from Broughton Astley, Leics, arrived hand-in-hand for the hearing before magistrates in Leamington Spa, Warks.

Wadsworth is accused of five counts of inciting a boy under the age of 16 to commit an act of gross indecency.

His wife is charge with seven counts of inciting a boy under the age of 16 to commit an act of gross indecency.

Both defendants are also accused of committing an act that outraged public decency  (more...)
