Victoria man who sexted former student gets lifetime teaching ban

A Victoria man who admitted to sexting a former student has been handled a lifetime teaching ban.

The case dates back to the Spring of 2013, when the teacher in question sent numerous inappropriate text messages and twitter messages to a female student who had graduated the year before.

The messages were of sexual nature — including references to having sex with her.

Anthony Albert Drolet, who goes by Tony, was immediately suspended and then fired by the Victoria School District in August of 2013.

At the time, Tony Drolet was teaching at Vic High. The School District says no other students or former students were targeted.

Drolet has since relinquished his teaching certificate and now works for a sports wear company.  (more...)
