Husband and wife BBC duo are charged with child sex offences against four boys


Two BBC stars have been charged with sex offences against four children and will appear in court next week.

Tony Wadsworth, 68, and his wife Julie, 58, who presented shows on BBC Radio Leicester and BBC WM in Birmingham, are due to appear before Warwickshire Magistrates' Court on May 11.

The couple, who live in Broughton Astley, Leicestershire, have been accused of committing the offences in Atherstone, Warwickshire between 1996 and 1999.

The BBC said both presenters have been removed from the air during the criminal process.

He said: 'We understand the charges do not relate to their conduct or position at the BBC
Mr Wadsworth has been charged with five counts of inciting a boy under the age of 16 to commit an act of gross indecency.

Julie Wadsworth, 58, of the same address, has been charged with seven counts of inciting a boy under the age of 16 to commit an act of gross indecency.  (more...)
