GTA community members call for referendum on sex education at Brampton town hall meeting

BRAMPTON – The debate on Ontario's new sex education curriculum is not yet over.

During a heated town hall meeting on Saturday (March 7) at the Terry Miller Recreation Centre in Brampton, concerned parents, community members and retired teachers called for a referendum on the province's sex education curriculum.

Organized by Peel's Home Owners Welfare Association (HOWA), a large number of people from across the GTA, including Mississauga-Erindale MPP Harinder Takhar and Brampton-Springdale MPP Harinder Malhi, attended the meeting.

“We’re asking for a referendum,” said Lou Iacobelli, a retired Toronto Catholic District School Board teacher. “This curriculum is not age appropriate."  (more...)
