Windsorites rally against provincial government’s new sex-ed curriculum


More than 50 parents, grandparents and youth rallied in Charles Clark Square Saturday morning with the message that sexual education should be in the hands of parents — not teachers.

The protest was against the revamped sexual education curriculum the Ontario Liberal government is introducing to schools in fall 2015.

Some of what’s being brought into the new curriculum will gradually teach children Grades 1 and up about consent, safe sex, same-sex relationships, as well as about technology and sexting.

“Our intention here is to make people aware of it,” said John Azzopardi, who organized the protest.

He said he thinks sexual education for children shouldn’t be up to teachers. “We feel it’s a parental right to do that.”  (more...)
