How 3 Loopholes Allow Canada to Arm Israel's Genocide

In March 18th, 2024 Parliament voted for an opposition day motion brought forward by the NDP that included a call to end arms transfer to Israel. While this motion passed, it was non-binding and the Liberal government failed to uphold the commitments it had made in negotiations with the NDP and NCCM. 

Despite repeated statements and assurances that Canada is not sending weapons to Israel, from both the previous and the current Liberal government, evidence emerged from US disclosures and a Project Ploughshares report that Canadian arms are in fact reaching Israel through a longstanding US loophole, created during the Cold War and never closed. 

This loophole enables Canadian weapons and components to flow to Israel via the US, bypassing Canadian oversight and reporting. 

These transfers put Canada in clear violation of both domestic and international law - particularly given that Canada is a signatory to the Arms Trade Treaty, which prohibits arms exports that are being used in human rights abuses.

Polish police arrest former justice minister in ‘Israeli spyware’ scandal

 

Zbigniew Ziobro has been detained at Warsaw airport and taken to parliament where he admitted approving the purchase of Pegasus

Former Polish Justice Minister Zbigniew Ziobro was arrested on Monday at Warsaw’s Chopin Airport and brought before a parliamentary commission investigating the use of Israeli-made Pegasus spyware during his time in office. 

The politician, who served as justice minister and prosecutor general under the former Law and Justice (PiS) government between 2015 and 2023, has repeatedly refused to testify before the commission, arguing that it is unconstitutional and politically motivated.

A Warsaw court earlier this year authorized Ziobro’s detention and forced appearance, citing nine previous no-shows. However, Poland’s Constitutional Tribunal, led by PiS ally Bogdan Swieczkowski, has ruled the commission unlawful and barred actions against him. 

Despite this, police detained Ziobro on Monday as he stepped off a delayed flight from Brussels and escorted him to the Sejm. He denounced the move as illegal, telling officers they would bear responsibility before the court.

During the hearing, Ziobro condemned the panel as arrogant, aggressive, and in breach of proper legal standards. He demanded the removal of all members and specifically chairwoman Magdalena Sroka, claiming political bias. His motions were rejected. He maintained that the inquiry “has nothing to do with a reasonable pursuit of the truth.”  (more...)

A rookie Liberal MP defied the law and his government in service of a state committing a live streamed holocaust. Because it was on behalf of Israel it will likely pass with little uproar.

A week ago, Toronto MP Vince Gasparro released an unusual video in which he announced that the anti-genocide Irish rap group Kneecap was banned from Canada. In it Gasparro declared that Kneecap “publicly displayed support for terrorist organisations such as Hezbollah and Hamas”.

The announcement received significant media coverage with the Centre for Israel and Jewish Affairs (CIJA) and B’nai Brith immediately celebrating the move. The genocide lobby had been pushing to block Kneecap from scheduled performances in Toronto and Vancouver next month.

But Kneecap hasn’t been informed of the decision by the Canadian government. Now Movement Media Hub is reporting that Gasparro “went rogue”. In a release they noted, “sources inside the Prime Minister’s Office have confirmed that Irish rap group Kneecap was never officially banned from Canada, despite Liberal MP Vince Gasparro’s public statements. According to a senior PMO insider, Gasparro went rogue in making the announcement, lied about receiving authorization from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), and may have committed a serious breach of the federal Privacy Act, an unprecedented scandal in Canadian history.” Their press release quoted an unnamed source noting, “The PMO explicitly asked MP Gasparro whether he had IRCC’s authorization to make his announcement — he said yes. That was false. No decision had been made by IRCC or the PMO. His statement was completely unauthorized.”  (more...)

German leaders are pursuing policies reminiscent of Adolf Hitler’s objectives of dominating Europe and inflicting a strategic defeat on Moscow, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has warned.

Germany’s military buildup and ambitions go beyond defense, Lavrov told a press conference following his address to the 80th session of the UN General Assembly on Saturday.

“It’s not just militarization, there are clear signs of re-nazification,” he told reporters. “And why is this being done? Well, probably with the same goal that Hitler had – to dominate all of Europe. And to try to inflict a strategic defeat on the Soviet Union, in the case of Hitler, and in the case of modern Germany and the chorus of main soloists from the European Union and NATO – on the Russian Federation.

The foreign minister accused Chancellor Friedrich Merz of seeking to transform Germany back into “the main military machine of Europe,” citing his increasingly militaristic rhetoric.  (more...)

UN blacklist of firms complicit in Israeli settlement activity more than doubles

 

Sixty-eight new companies from 11 countries added to UN's database in 70 percent jump

The number of businesses listed by the UN as complicit in illegal Israeli settlement activity in the occupied West Bank has more than doubled, with 68 new firms added.

The UN Human Rights Office released an updated list on Friday, naming a total of 158 companies - a 70 percent increase from 97 listed in 2023, when the database was last published. 

The database highlights firms involved in activities in the settlements, including providing equipment for construction, demolition and surveillance, and assisting with banking operations. 

UN human rights chief Volker Turk said: “This report underscores the due diligence responsibility of businesses working in contexts of conflict to ensure their activities do not contribute to human rights abuses."

Most of the listed companies are based in Israel, but others are located in several European countries, China, Canada, the United Kingdom and the United States.

Newcomers include German-based Heidelberg Materials, Steconfer, a rail systems provider in Portugal, and Ineco, a Spanish transportation engineering company.

Several travel companies, including Expedia Group, Booking Holdings and Airbnb, have remained on the list.  (more...)

An expanding alliance of states urges coordinated legal and economic measures to hold "Israel" accountable for its genocide in Gaza and prevent further atrocities.

The Israeli genocide in Gaza faced renewed diplomatic pressure as the Hague Group, a growing alliance of activist states, convened in New York to advance coordinated legal and economic measures aimed at isolating "Israel".

Speaking at the meeting, Malaysia’s Foreign Minister, Mohamad Hasan, said the international community had a legal and moral obligation to deny "Israel the tools of genocide.”

He urged governments to block the transfer of weapons, heavy machinery, and other dual-use goods to "Israel", while also targeting multinational corporations that enable the occupation of Palestinian land.

The Hague Group, co-chaired by South Africa and Colombia, has emerged as a hub for collective action against "Israel", ranging from potential port and airport restrictions to support for aid flotillas attempting to break Gaza’s siege. As Israel’s military invasion, indiscriminate slaughter and forced starvation in Gaza continue, questions as to how some 3,000 Hamas-led fighters were able to breach Israel’s security barriers on 7 October 2023 remain unanswered.

Israel’s government continues to reject an independent investigation, and evidence is mounting that the state’s top civilian and military leaders didn’t just miss the signs of an imminent assault, but may have purposely ignored them. The motive was to justify the ethnic cleansing of Gaza, the annexation of the West Bank and the creation of a larger Israel in occupied Palestine.

In addition, and surprisingly underreported, suspicious stock market activity just days before the October attack lends weight to the theory that someone somewhere knew something.

Earlier this month, a Haaretz investigation found that the top Israeli military leader for the Gaza area on 7 October had visited the site of the Supernova rave just an hour before the attack and took no precautions.

Lieutenant Colonel Haim Cohen, commander of the Northern Brigade in the Gaza Division, saw that only a handful of police officers were on duty at the crowded festival but told military investigators he had no information suggesting that he should have dispersed the crowd or beefed up security.

The Supernova rave, where 378 people were killed and 44 were taken hostage, was the deadliest single site on a day that saw 1,139 people killed in total and 240 people taken captive.

It is still unclear how many of the dead were killed by Palestinian fighters and how many were killed by Israel itself, due to its deadly Hannibal Directive.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s immediate response to the crisis has also come under scrutiny. His chief of staff and closest confidant, Tzachi Braverman, is accused of having altered Netanyahu’s phone logs to make them appear as if his first orders to his military on the morning of 7 October came earlier than they actually did.  (more...)

Baron William T. Frary Von Blomberg was a leader in The International Christian Leadership founded by Abraham Vereide (otherwise known as "The Family”).  "The Family" is an evangelical Christian cult that holds "The National Prayer Breakfast" in Washington, D. C., and strongly influences key figures in Washington.  In 1944, Abraham Vereide founded the group and served as the executive director until he died in 1965.  The “Family” has recently come under scrutiny through a Netflix documentary series and negative press articles exposing the hidden underworld of influencing key figures in Washington.

Baron Frary von Blomberg, who sponsored William Branham's international tours overseas, worked with Vereide in the early days of the organization and served as an executive member.  Von Blomberg worked as a representative for the International Christian Leadership, holding conferences for the group. in Finland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, France, England, Scotland, Ireland, and Wales.  Von Blomberg was instrumental in organizing The International Christian Leadership in many of those countries.  

Whether Branham was a member of the group since 1946 or not, he openly admitted that von Blomberg sponsored his tours through those countries in the 1950s.

The Canadian Press Will Continue Not Using ‘Palestine’ In Most Cases

 

Most Canadian news outlets follow CP’s style guidance, meaning the status quo on “Palestine” may continue.

On September 21, Canada formally recognized the State of Palestine, joining more than 145 other United Nations members (about 78 per cent) that have done so. 

In the past, mainstream Canadian media outlets formally refused to use the word Palestine when reporting on the State of Palestine and its various components, instead using terms such as “Palestinian territories” or referring to the West Bank, Gaza, or East Jerusalem. 

Most Canadian newsrooms have historically followed The Canadian Press (CP) Style Book on such matters. 

The most-recent edition of the book, published in 2021, doesn’t contain an entry dealing with the question of how to refer to Palestine, though it does omit any mention of Palestine in sections listing all countries and regions in the world as well as a description of the Middle East.

In February 2022 I reached out to CP to ask about their policy, and they told me they follow the Associated Press (AP) guideline, which at the time was, “Use Palestine and Palestinians in the context of Palestine’s activities in international bodies to which it has been admitted and the actions of the Palestinian Authority: the Palestinian flag, Palestinian prime minister. Do not use Palestine or state of Palestine in other situations, since it is not a fully independent, unified state. For territory, refer specifically to the West Bank or Gaza, or the Palestinian territories in reference to both.”  (more...)

Irish rap group Kneecap banned from entering Canada for speaking out against genocide

 

The three-man Irish hip hop band Kneecap has been banned from entering Canada ahead of their sold-out concert dates in Toronto and Vancouver planned for October. Liberal MP Vince Gasparro, the parliamentary secretary for combating crime, announced the measure in a video statement filled with lies and doublespeak on the platform X (owned by jet-setting Hitler-saluting neo-Nazi, mega billionaire Elon Musk).

Liam Óg Ó Hannaidh (Mo Chara), Naoise Ó Cairealláin (Móglaí Bap) and JJ Ó Dochartaigh (DJ Próvai) have been courageously speaking out against Israel’s Gaza genocide, which has been supported and facilitated by Canada and all the imperialist powers. Kneecap has garnered support and popularity among global audiences and fellow artists due to their courageous stand.

After their performance at the Coachella music festival in April, where they projected statements condemning the Israeli government, their weekly US streams nearly doubled. Their set in June in Glastonbury “was so popular that organizers had to shut access to the arena to stop overcrowding,” according to a New York Times article. For this reason, Kneecap has become a target for persecution by Zionist organizations, right-wing media outlets and now governments.

Canada is second on the list of countries to deny them entry after Hungary did so on July 24. The Hungarian government, whose far-right President Tamás Sulyok falsified his father’s Nazi past, has accused Kneecap of engaging in “antisemitic hate speech.”

In his extraordinary announcement, Gasparro builds his entire case against Kneecap on the Terrorism Act charge the UK government has levelled against Kneecap member Liam Óg Ó Hannaidh, which he is scheduled to fight in court in London on September 26. Equating an investigation with guilt, Gasparro accused the band of “advocating for political violence, glorifying terrorist organizations and displaying hate symbols that directly target the Jewish community.” The words “violence,” “hate” and “terrorist/terrorism” are repeated four times in the 1 minute and 40-second-long video.

Meanwhile, this is how Gasparro refers to the slaughter of well over 65,000 Palestinians and the mass starvation of hundreds of thousands:

“Let me be clear, Canada is never to be used as a platform for extremism or political violence and we will not tolerate international conflicts being used as an excuse to intimidate and harass Canadians here at home.”  (more...)

Following in the shameful footsteps of both Justin Trudeau and Chrystia Freeland, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney continues pledging support and money (which Canadians desperately need) to Ukraine, to prolong the proxy war against Russia.

Carney chose Ukrainian Independence Day to voice the Canadian government’s continued pledge to support Ukraine. As he landed in Kiev on August 24, Carney posted on X, “On this Ukrainian Independence Day, and at this critical moment in their nation’s history, Canada is stepping up our support and our efforts towards a just and lasting peace for Ukraine.”

Later in the day he posted, “After three years at war, Ukrainians urgently need more military equipment. Canada is answering that call, providing $2 billion for drones, armoured vehicles, and other critical resources.” This latest pledge brings Canada’s expenditure on Ukraine since February 2022 to nearly $22 billion.

Further, he pledged to potentially send Canadian or allied soldiers, stating, “I would not exclude the presence of troops.”

Pause for a moment to examine the utter lack of logic behind these statements: For “peace” for Ukraine, Canada will support further war to ensure more Ukrainian men are ripped off the streets and forced to the front lines, where they will inevitably die in a battle they didn’t sign up for.  (more...)

Her Ukrainian grandfather served as a Nazi propagandist during the Second World War, promoting the Final Solution and mass murder of Jews.

Chrystia Freeland, Canada’s former foreign minister, has been appointed as her country’s special representative for the reconstruction of Ukraine. It is a dubious “homecoming” for the rabidly Russophobic Freeland.

Her Ukrainian grandfather served as a Nazi propagandist during the Second World War, promoting the Final Solution and mass murder of Jews and other Slavic peoples. Mykhailo Chomiak evaded prosecution by fleeing to Canada after the war, like thousands of other Nazi war criminals who were brought over on ratlines set up by the Canadian authorities.

During her tenures as Canada’s foreign and finance ministers and deputy prime minister, Freeland distinguished herself as one of the most ardent Western supporters of the Kiev regime, ramping up military aid and demanding tougher sanctions on Moscow. Her visceral hostility towards Russia is explained by her Nazi family heritage.

Freeland’s appointment this week as special envoy to Ukraine is a deplorable decision by her boss, Prime Minister Mark Carney. Carney, who took over from the hapless Justin Trudeau, is a godfather to one of Freeland’s children, so her new job smacks of nepotism.

For a proper postwar reconstruction of Ukraine, Freeland’s role does not bode well. Given her ideological and personal closeness with the Kiev regime, Freeland’s influence on directing the anticipated huge reconstruction funds will only entrench the regime and its vile Nazi proclivities.  (more...)

Recognizing the injustice would mean reparations. Recognizing the crimes against humanity would mean wrestling with their own complicity.

The Global Majority is speaking out at the U.N. General Assembly session, demanding an end to genocide against the Palestinians in Gaza, and insisting that the U.S. join with them.  The President of Indonesia quoted from the U.S. Declaration of Independence about its historic commitment to the idea of "unalienable rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness."  Instead of being complicit in genocide, the U.S. has the power to stop the Greater Israel Zionist fanatics in the ethnic cleansing which continues while diplomats speak.  The American people must speak out!

What happens when speaking out for Palestine lands you on an anonymous online blacklist? In the first episode of  There is a List, host Zahra Khozema speaks to Canadians targeted by Canary Mission – a blacklist that doxxes students, academics, and activists across North America, most of whom are women and people of colour.

In this episode we hear from a Palestinian-Canadian woman whose life and career were derailed after she was profiled almost a decade ago. From death threats to lost job opportunities, her story reveals the lasting consequences of being targeted. We also meet newer victims, like a student who participated in the University of Toronto encampments and a professor denied U.S. entry after being listed.

Together, their experiences raise questions about activism, surveillance, and the groups working to silence pro-Palestinian voices in Canada.

Why won’t Britain arrest Israeli war criminals?

 

In January, an Israeli soldier fled Brazil with the help of the Israeli embassy, to evade arrest after a Brazilian judge ordered police to detain him on a criminal complaint brought by the Hind Rajab Foundation (HRF).

The complaint accused the soldier of “participating in massive demolitions of civilian homes in Gaza during a systematic campaign of destruction.”

In July, Belgium became the first European country to act upon a complaint filed by the HRF – which was set up specifically to pursue legal accountability for war crimes committed in Gaza – as well as the Global Legal Action Network (GLAN).

The Belgian public prosecutor’s office instructed the Belgian police to identify, arrest and interrogate two Israeli soldiers as they attended the Tomorrowland Festival near Antwerp. The soldiers were released after interrogation, but the Belgian Federal Public Prosecutor’s Office announced that it would “refer the files to the International Criminal Court (ICC).”

HRF has filed similar arrest requests in 23 countries.

In Bogota, Colombia, meanwhile, 12 countries signed a declaration in July at the behest of the The Hague Group that, among other measures, included support for universal jurisdiction mandates, a legal principle that allows individual states to prosecute war criminals no matter where the crimes were committed.

In response to such moves, the Israeli military has been forced to advise several of its soldiers not to travel for fear of arrest when abroad. Israeli media have even published a guide for Israelis on how to avoid arrest when holidaying abroad.  (more...)

Ernst “Putzi” Hanfstaengl (1887-1975) was a Harvard graduate and friend of Theodore Roosevelt who was a top aide to Adolf Hitler from 1923 to 1937.

Although he loathed Hitler’s persecution of Jews, Hanfstaengl wrote Hitler’s speeches and helped polish his image while working to ensure that he received positive press coverage.

Hanfstaengl, presenting himself as a loyal German, was recruited to work for Anglo-American intelligence while running his family’s art gallery in New York City according to Jim Macgregor and John O’Dowd, authors of Two World Wars and Hitler: Who Was Responsible? Anglo-American Money, Foreign Agents and Geopolitics (Trine Day, 2025).

Hanfstaengl had been put in contact with Hitler by Captain Truman Smith, a U.S. military intelligence officer who referred to Hitler as “a remarkable fellow” who was “going to play a big part.”

A “big part,” that is, in a scheme to manipulate into power a reactionary German leader who would wage another war on Russia. The ultimate goal was the destruction of two countries that could challenge Anglo-American hegemony.  (more...)

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan begun his speech pointing to Washington’s denial of visas to Palestinian Authority and Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO) officials, including PA president Mahmoud Abbas.

He shows the UNGA a photo of what he calls “daily life in Gaza”, depicting hungry women holding buckets and pots waiting to receive food.

Erdogan, who calls war on Gaza one of humanity’s darkest moments, then shows another picture of what appears to be a severe malnourished child.

Israel decries Hollywood boycott — while silencing its own critical filmmakers

 

Films challenging dominant Zionist narratives have long faced bans, funding cuts, and smear campaigns from Israeli officials and right-wing activists alike.

A pledge to boycott Israeli film institutions has quickly racked up the signatures of over 4,500 actors, directors, and other film workers from around the world. Launched on Sept. 8 by the group Film Workers for Palestine, the pledge commits signatories — who include Emma Stone, Joaquin Phoenix, Javier Bardem, and Ilana Glazer — not to work with Israeli production companies, broadcasters, cinemas, or festivals deemed to be complicit in apartheid and the ongoing genocide in Gaza. 

Hitting back, Israeli Culture Minister Miki Zohar described the boycott as “cynical and detached,” vowing that “Israeli film culture will continue to flourish, touch hearts, and succeed around the world.” Yet in truth, many Israeli filmmakers and institutions have already been facing boycotts and attempts at silencing for a long time — from the Israeli government itself.

Just last week, Zohar announced that he was pulling funding from the Ophir Awards, Israel’s equivalent of the Oscars. This was after the top prize went to Shai Carmeli-Pollak’s “The Sea,” which tells the story of a 12-year-old Palestinian boy from the West Bank who tries to visit the beach for the first time but is stopped at an Israeli military checkpoint.

“Starting with the 2026 budget, this pathetic ceremony will no longer be funded by taxpayers’ money,” Zohar declared. “Under my watch, Israeli citizens will not pay from their pockets for a ceremony that spits in the faces of our heroic soldiers.”

This was only the latest in a long history of right-wing attempts to silence critical Israeli and Palestinian filmmakers, which has ramped up steadily over the past two decades, particularly vis-a-vis documentaries that challenge the dominant Zionist narrative. While these films rarely achieve commercial success, their impact has been amplified through earning recognition at some of the world’s most prestigious cinematic venues — from Berlinale, Sundance, and Venice, to the Peabodys, Emmys, and Oscars.  (more...)

'Bureaucratic genocide': Palestinian Canadians urge Ottawa to evacuate their families from Gaza

 

Two successive Liberal governments have blundered the special visa process and have a backlog of thousands of applications, lawmaker says

Omar has paid a whopping $120,000 out of his pocket to facilitate the evacuation of some of his family members from Gaza into Egypt.

He described much of the payment as a "bribe" to an Egyptian travel company - a scandal that Middle East Eye investigated last year.

Such a story is not at all unique for Palestinians in the diaspora desperately waiting to be reunited with their loved ones, or at the very least see them to safety in a third country. 

Omar, the founder of the online community Gazan Canadians, who asked that his last name be withheld, has so far managed to bring one of his seven sisters to Canada, along with her husband and children. But another, who is undergoing chemotherapy for cancer, remains in Egypt along with his mother.

His father and brother are still in the enclave, surviving in a tent.

"We are too tired to fight. I am exhausted. I lost my job, relationship, my money, everything you can imagine, but I am willing to take it till the end, because my family is going to die," Omar, a former tech worker in Vancouver, British Columbia, told MEE. 

He is one of several Palestinian Canadians who travelled to the capital, Ottawa, on Monday, to urge the government to speed up visa processing, pressure the Israelis to provide exit permits, and forego detailed background checks until Palestinians are first evacuated to a safe third country en route to Canada.

The Canadian government has pledged to bring in 5,000 Palestinians from Gaza on special visas. 

That announcement came in January 2024 and has been carried from one Liberal government, under Justin Trudeau, to the next, under Mark Carney. 

But nearly two years on, less than a quarter, only 886 Palestinians, have arrived in Canada from Gaza, and it remains unclear exactly how many of them are even part of the 5,000-person cap, because different families utilised different immigration programmes depending on their chances.   (more...)

Dissolve the U.S.-UK Special Relationship, and Join Hands with the Global Majority!

 

The Global Majority—BRICS+, ASEAN, the SCO, and nations largely in the Global South—are moving in the direction towards a new world economic order, a new security and development architecture in which all nations are taken into account, not just those favored by the nations of the so-called “rules-based order.” It is in the interest of the hopelessly bankrupt nations of the trans-Atlantic to join hands with that new order which is emerging.

Unfortunately, while the rest of the world is in reality, President Trump found himself in the dark halls of Windsor Castle in Great Britain, being greeted by people such as King Charles III, who have openly spoken about reducing the world population to less than 2 billion people. The endless wars, sanctions, and genocide that we see taking place all across the world, are the policies being used to undertake such a dramatic reduction of the world population.

Meanwhile, in the U.S. itself, the assassination of Turning Point USA Founder Charlie Kirk is a major inflection point, particularly among the young MAGA crowd, who believe that “America First” does not mean “Israel First,” and are angry about the genocide taking place in Gaza. Many commentators, such as Max Blumenthal, Candace Owens, and others, are asking questions about Kirk’s apparent unhappiness with the pressure brought to him by Zionist funders, such as Bill Ackman.

That being said, we should not immediately look for a culprit to blame. What we do know, given the 50-year work of American statesman and economist Lyndon LaRouche, is that such terror incidents are used to create a strategy of tension, and to use so-called “left” and “right” profiles to divide people and create even more violence. This is the interest of the City of London and Wall Street, who maintain their power through force, bribery, and terror, to prevent their imperial system from collapsing.

To properly situate the situation, and intervene successfully, we must look at events in the world from the top-down. We must, emphatically, recognize the a new system is emerging from the nations of the Global Majority—represented most prominently in the Global South, with nations such as Russia, China, and India playing a leading role. We must build a competent leadership within the Western nations, which can collaborate with this emerging order.

Today’s program will focus on the strategy of tension being employed by the City of London and Wall Street, along with the Special Relationship between the U.S. and the British Empire, which has yet to be fully dismantled. Harley Schlanger and Mike Robinson will provide us with a much-needed strategic overview to properly situate where we stand, and how we must act.
