U of T, police investigating threats against feminists


The University of Toronto is beefing up security after anonymous online threats urged people to shoot and slit the throats of feminist students and professors.

Spokesman Althea Blackburn-Evans confirmed vice-president and provost Cheryl Regehr sent a message to the school’s 80,000 students Thursday afternoon. The message says the school is working with Toronto Police and Peel Regional Police “to support an investigation into anonymous threats made on a public blog against the University of Toronto.”

Blackburn-Evans said there will be an increased campus police presence at the George, Scarborough and Mississauga campuses.  (more...)
