Ontario Liberals breathtakingly hypocritical

It was the most breathtaking case of pot calling the kettle black I’ve seen in the long years I’ve covered politics.

Education Minister Liz Sandals accused the Elementary Teachers’ Federation of Ontario (ETFO) of playing politics — and using their ongoing job action to help get Thomas Mulcair elected federally.

Earlier this week, ETFO president Sam Hammond accused the Liberals of trying to push through a deal with the union in order to help Justin Trudeau’s chances in the federal election.

Sandals came out swinging Wednesday, saying she was “astounded” Hammond would make that connection.

“When we started to look into it, what we realized was that ETFO, for the first time ever, has actually endorsed a party — the NDP — in the federal election campaign. That ETFO seems to be actually actively working to get Tom Mulcair elected,” she told reporters.

Well, there’s a shock. A left-wing party of socialists is being supported by — gasp — a union!  (more...)
