The Liberal government of Ontario, after promising there would not be cuts to health and education, has changed its mind.
On July 9, Wynne stood up in the legislature and said: "We're not going to cut and slash across government. We're not going to cut education. We're not going to cut health care."
But this week, it was revealed that education will be cut after all, to the tune of $500 million over three years. That's more than two per cent of the $22.5-billion education budget.
We know about these planned cuts because New Democrat MPP Peter Tabuns got hold of a government document that calls for these cuts to happen. (more...)
