Canadian Student Complains Catholic School Board Denying Right to Form ‘Gay Straight Alliance’

A student at a Catholic school in Ontario is accusing the school of denying his constitutional rights to establish a gay-straight alliance, according to Catholic Culture.

"I'm disappointed a group to combat homophobia was the catalyst for a new round of bullying, this time from the administration," said the student, according to the Centre for Inquiry Ontario (CFI), a secular progressive news organization.

The student filed his complaint with the Ontario Human Rights Tribunal, stating that the Mississauga Catholic School Board is violating Bill 13 of the Accepting Schools Act and accuses the school board and the bishops of working to prevent the formation of the group.  (more...)
