Crown asks for nine years for Toronto coach's 'unrelenting sexual abuse'

Michael Dimmick
TORONTO -- A former hockey coach who befriended a suburban Toronto family to "perpetrate unrelenting sexual abuse" against their two youngest sons should be imprisoned for nine years, a Crown attorney urged Tuesday.

Kelly Simpson told a sentencing hearing that Michael Dimmick "preyed upon and exploited the vulnerability of children" and groomed his victims by buying them gifts.

Dimmick, 75, was convicted in June of 14 sexual offences, including sexual assault and sexual interference.  (more...)
