Peel groups critical of Ontario’s sex ed curriculum plan two protests

MISSISSAUGA — Peel parents concerned about Ontario’s new sex education curriculum are planning a pair of protests this week in Mississauga.

On Tuesday, members of Home Owners Welfare Association (HOWA), a Brampton group that has been hosting a series of town hall styled meetings in the city on the subject, will be at the HJA Brown Education Centre, 5650 Hurontario St. at 7:30 p.m. for a presentation. They will also be handing out copies of an “opt-out” letter that the group says it will distribute in the coming weeks to parents that want to pull out their children from the classes when teachers discuss the revised sex ed curriculum.

On Thursday,  the group will stage a silent demonstration outside Verdi Hospitality Centre, 3550 Derry Rd. E., at 5 p.m. where a media event to celebrate the province’s diversity is taking place. Premier Kathleen Wynne is scheduled to be at the venue for the celebrations.  (more...)
