Miltary base school teacher accused of sexual assault

OTTAWA ─ A former teacher at an Ottawa military base school listened Tuesday to his old student accuse him of rape in the late 1960s.

Michael Grant Slater, 73, taught at Elizabeth Park school, which catered to children of military men serving at the Uplands base.

He has pleaded not guilty to counts of gross indecency, indecent assault and buggery relating to two complainants.

One of those men, now a 58-year-old man told Crown prosecutor Lisa Miles that Slater had sexually assaulted him at an Alta Vista home and in the classroom in about 1968, when the man was in Grade 7.  (more...)
