A United Nations committee attacks Catholic teaching

A United Nations committee has told the Vatican that it must change its teaching when it comes to abortion and homosexuality. The UN committee wants the Church to declare that it's fine for Catholics to perform or assist in abortions. The Church must also adapt and remove any fear from the risk of excommunication.

Archbishop Silvano Maria Tomasi who represents the Vatican at the United Nations responded by saying that the Church will not change what it believes about the sanctity and dignity of the human person. The Church continues to stand and defend its doctrine in the hope of building the common good. Think of the absurdity of it all: a committee purporting to work on children's rights decides to tell the Church to approve abortions, and that the time has come for the Church to accept homosexuality, same-sex marriage and contraceptives.  (more...)
