Husband’s presence at school forces Laval teacher to step aside

LAVAL – A teacher at Hillcrest Academy in Laval has taken a leave of absence after her husband, a suspected child predator, was arrested outside the elementary school last week.

Maxine Jolin, a spokesperson with the Sir Wilfrid Laurier School Board, confirmed that the grade three teacher requested an indefinite leave of absence on Monday.

She was not at the school on Tuesday.

The dozen or so parents protesting outside of the school on Tuesday morning welcomed the news, although mother Carmela Furfaro was frustrated with school board for not taking the decision sooner.  (more...)
