An Open Letter to City of Toronto Councillors

Toronto the Good?
Dear Councillors,

Recent events have been extraordinary in the history of the political life of the City of Toronto. City Council has been working hard to find a solution to the crisis. No question about it, Mayor Ford has made mistakes and he has admitted as much. If he has broken the law, let the due process take its course. Certainly the media feeding frenzy has not been helpful. What has happened to responsible journalism in this city and the country?

City Council needs to move on and deal with other issues. Instead, the Council has too often been mired in trying to teach the Mayor a moral lesson. However, most Council members should not foolishly rush in to take the high road or make hypocritical comments of censure. Why? Here's an example. The City of Toronto allows the free distribution of the magazine called Now on our streets . It’s currently available even in our public libraries. In my local library, one can find copies openly displayed close to the children’s area.  (more...)
