Ask the kids just rescued from slavery if our laws are tough enough

The shocking news coming from Toronto Police on Thursday was not that they had completed an investigation that saw hundreds arrested around the world for possession of child pornography, which has become far too common an occurrence.

The truly shocking news is 386 children were rescued as part of Project Spade.

These are children who were sexually abused, used as sex slaves, their abuse documented, photographed, shot on video and then sold around the world.

Don’t tell me that buying or looking at child pornography is a harmless crime not deserving of a harsh punishment, not unless you can say that while looking into the eyes of the children just rescued.  (more...)
