Penn State Reaches First Sandusky Settlement

Alleged assaults after graduate assistant
Michael McQueary told superiors what he saw
generated the biggest settlement payments.
Pennsylvania State University said it agreed to a multimillion-dollar payment to one of the sexual-abuse victims of former assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky, the first of 26 settlements set to be signed in the next week or two.

The first settlement, with a man known at trial as victim No. 5, is among the largest payments, said Michael Rozen, an attorney with Feinberg Rozen LLP who was hired by the school to lead settlement negotiations that have been going on for nearly a year. That is because the abuse occurred after school administrators were told Mr. Sandusky was seen acting inappropriately with a boy in a campus shower room, Mr. Rozen said.  (more...)
