CAMBRIDGE — A former Cambridge high school teacher, convicted of sexual exploitation in 2014, is no longer certified by the Ontario College of Teachers.

Jacqueline Lavigne was also found guilty of professional misconduct by the college's discipline committee, the college confirms.

A public hearing was held last June 22. Lavigne's teaching certificate with the college was ordered immediately revoked.

The discipline committee ruling is posted on the college's website.

Four years ago, a judge found Lavigne guilty of having sex with a drunken 17-year-old student in the fall of 2011.

After the trial, Lavigne was sentenced to 13 months in jail. Her appeals were dismissed. The local Catholic school board fired Lavigne within weeks of her conviction. Lavigne had been with Monsignor Doyle Secondary School for about seven years.  (more...)
