Mordor's Revenge: 'Pilloried' OISE dean considers her legal options


The embattled dean of the University of Toronto’s education department has hired a lawyer to explore legal options after public attacks from faculty caused what she calls international damage to her reputation.

Julia O’Sullivan, who in January withdrew her name for reappointment as dean of the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE), was the subject of a Star story last week, which reported that some faculty had called for her immediate firing.

In an exclusive interview with the Star this week, O’Sullivan, flanked by her lawyer, Brian Grosman, defended her record as dean and called the public grievances leveled against her by her faculty members “regrettable” and “deeply offensive.”
