All of the allegedly falsified traffic warnings in what police officers are calling the ‘phantom ticket’ probe were issued after traffic stops where civilians were pulled over by police, Postmedia has learned.
Ottawa police began investigating their own officers in 2015 amid allegations of rampant issuing of fake traffic warnings to increase the internal statistics of officers in the force’s traffic escort and enforcement unit.
That investigation which has not yet been completed, has grown to include about 20 officers force-wide and has resulted in two suspensions. (more...)
