Child killer, pedophile confesses to unsolved Mississauga rapes

Gary Alexander McCorkell, 72, who is serving two life
sentences in Tennessee prison, recently admitted to
raping three boys in the GTA
Thomas O’Sullivan has been told the man who raped him and his friend 33 years ago, will die in prison.

Gary Alexander McCorkell, a convicted child killer and pedophile who recently admitted to raping the two boys in Mississauga and another boy in Etobicoke — all listed as unsolved crimes until two Peel Regional Police officers were finally able to interview McCorkell — says he wouldn’t have it any other way.

In a chilling interview with Peel Regional Police officers Tim VanBokhorst and Gary Rawlinson from his Tennessee prison, the 72-year-old McCorkell says he’s better off in jail:

“The way I look at it, and I’m not making excuses for anything I’ve done ‘cause it’s too late for that anyways, but, they say lock the key…lock him up and throw the keys away,” McCorkell says. “I’m glad they did, because as long as I’m in here, then they’re safe out there.”

O’Sullivan learned this year that McCorkell, a former Etobicoke resident, confessed to being his attacker.

O'Sullivan told The News this week he had been led to believe, years after the 1982 rape, that McCorkell was already dead.

“When I was a teenager, my mom lied to me and said he was dead," he said. "I know now she did it out of love. She didn't want me to be afraid anymore.”

McCorkell’s criminal history is lengthy and includes heinous crimes on young boys.  (more...)
