Former teacher Barton pleads guilty to sex charge

COBOURG - A former Trinity College School teacher will not serve further jail time after pleading guilty to a charge of sexual exploitation in regards to an inappropriate relationship with a student.

Leslie Barton, 54, from Peterborough was charged with sexual exploitation and sexual assault on Feb. 12, 2015 after a former student came forward with allegations.

The guilty plea followed judicial pre-trials with counsel regarding the case. The sexual assault charge was withdrawn from court.

Barton plead guilty to the charge on July 20, 2015 in front of Justice R.W. Beninger and in a rare move, Barton went into custody to serve her sentence, which at that time, hadn’t been given.  (more...)
