Sexual abuse stems from dishonesty in adoption process

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- Beverly Hilger of Shelbyville filed a lawsuit in Jefferson County after her adopted daughter was allegedly sexually abused by boys the Hilger family adopted from the state’s foster care program.

The lawsuit alleges in 2004 and 2005 social workers for the Cabinet of Health and Family Services failed to inform Hilger of the documented history of sex abuse by and of the boys.

In a pre-adoption conference Hilger said she asked the social workers about the boys' past and she said they denied any history of abuse.  (more...)
