Sarnia teacher Barbara Organ charged with sexual assault, exploitation involving student

SARNIA - A Sarnia high school music teacher is charged with sexual exploitation and sexual assault involving a teenage girl who was a student, police say.

Sarnia police say their investigation focused on a probe into alleged incidents that took place between 2011 and 2013.

The complainant was 16 years old when the alleged interactions at now-closed St. Clair secondary school began, and a relationship between the two continued even after the student was no longer at the school, police contend.

Barbara Organ was arrested at Sarnia police headquarters Wednesday and charged. Released on bail, she’s to appear in court in December.

According to the Ontario College of Teachers (OCT), the profession’s regulatory body, Organ studied music at Western University before being licensed to teach in 1992.  (more...)
