A mysterious $600,000 included in the tentative deal reached with the Elementary Teachers’ Federation of Ontario is not another secret union payout, Education Minister Liz Sandals insisted Monday.
While the minister said she was not prepared to discuss the contents of the tentative collective agreement until it had been ratified, she commented on a news report stating her government provided the union with a substantial amount of money for teacher professional development.
“I can absolutely guarantee you that there is not a $600,000 payment to ETFO,” Sandals said. “There is not a $600,000 payment cheque being written to ETFO.” (more...)
