University instructor guilty of making child porn

School girls who believed in the fairy tale of becoming famous fashion divas were tricked into participating in lewd motel room scenes by a university instructor, a court heard Tuesday.

Hugh (Sandy) Thorburn, 51, a former Waterloo and Lakehead university music instructor and theatre director, admitted his guilt as he wept in the prisoner’s box in the first phase of his sentencing hearing.

The Toronto man has pleaded guilty to creating child pornography, child luring and communicating with teens under the age of 18 for the purposes of prostitution.

Thorburn hunted for his victims, ages 14 to 17, by using five alias Facebook accounts where he advertised he worked with national modelling agencies, court heard.  (more...)
