Following in the footsteps of his father, Fred King led a church near Owen Sound where members were beaten and humiliated by the man they called the prophet. The law finally caught up with King last week, but it was a hollow victory for the woman who blew the whistle on his abusive practices.

In the end, the decision whether to accept a plea bargain for the abusive leader of a Southwestern Ontario church was put in the hands of the woman who suffered some of his cruellest blows.

TORONTO, March 11, 2015 (LifeSiteNews.com) -- As Ontario Premier Kathleen Wynne touts her role as a mother to show she is qualified to update the province’s sex-ed curriculum, information has surfaced about how she left her 13-year marriage and wreaked havoc in the lives of her three young children as she took up her homosexual relationship with her current partner, Jane Rounthwaite.

In the 2007 book Reconcilable Differences: Marriages End. Families Don't, which aims to recast what it means to be “family” after a failed marriage, author Cate Cochran unwittingly reveals alarming details of just how dysfunctional Wynne’s family became in her “New Age” quest for “sexual energy.”

In a chapter on Wynne’s family, the book describes Kathleen Wynne and Phil Cowperthwaite as “university sweethearts” who lived together for a couple of years after graduating. The author states that when they were “ready to have children” they decided to get married. This happened in 1977.

The couple had three children, Christopher, Jessie, and Maggie. According to the author, Wynne “loved being a mother.”

“She remembers waking up when the kids were young with a sense of well-being that she was following all the rules for the first time in her life and reaping lots of approval — baking muffins, taking part in the neighborhood garage sale, attending the kids’ school council meetings, and thinking to herself, “I’m doing this quite well. Public school board defends student’s ‘pink day’ poster championing polygamy

TORONTO, Ontario, April 30, 2014 (LifeSiteNews.com) – The Toronto District School Board (TDSB) is defending an allegedly student-created poster that appears to celebrate polygamy as part of the school’s “Pink Day” promoting diversity.

Titled "King Eddie Pink Day 2014," the poster includes two sets of trademark circular symbols that indicate either male or female. Each set linked together has three symbols, one-male-with-two-females and one-female-with-two-males.

“Same Love,” the poster, allegedly taped to the wall of King Edward Public School, states.

The poster, created April 9, appeared on Twitter earlier this week and was highlighted on Socialist Studies’ blog. It was re-tweeted by the TDSB. The tweet was “favorited” by the TDSB Continuing and International Education office, TDSB grade 3 teacher Sharon Moskovitz, teacher Vanessa Plourde, Liberal Party organizer Adam Exton, and left-leaning TDSB Ward 9 candidate Liz Jackson.  (more...)

In a 91 page  opinion in Brown v. Buhman,  federal district judge Clark Waddoups has concluded that Utah's anti-bigamy statute is partially unconstitutional.  ... 

The judge's scholarly opinion includes a discussion of Edward Said's groundbreaking book Orientalism as a critique of the well-known passage in the United States Supreme Court’s 1879 decision in Reynolds v. United States upholding the criminalization of polygamy by reasoning, in part, that "Polygamy has always been odious among the northern and western nations of Europe, and, until the establishment of the Mormon Church, was almost exclusively a feature of the life of Asiatic and of African people." ... 

However, the judge did find that "the cohabitation prong does not survive rational basis review under the substantive due process analysis."  (more...)
