Englefeld teacher guilty of professional misconduct

A former teacher and coach from Englefeld, Sask., has been found guilty of professional misconduct after he allegedly instigated a sexual relationship with one of his students in 2004.

A notice posted to the Saskatchewan Teachers’ Federation (STF) website earlier in January states Desi Zimmerman was found guilty and a penalty hearing for the teacher is set for Jan. 20.

Zimmerman was the subject of a two-day disciplinary hearing in October 2016. A now 31-year-old complainant claims he had kissed her in a gymnasium office and some weeks later, drove her to “the middle of nowhere” and had sex with her while she was an 18-year-old student.

During the hearing, Zimmerman’s lawyer, Scott Spencer, suggested the woman lied about when Zimmerman drove her to a remote rural location near Englefeld and had sex with her.  (more...)
