Grassroots coalition to demand true and transparent consultation on the Sex-Ed component of Ontario’s revised Health & Physical Education curriculum

WHAT: Press conference

WHEN: Friday December 12, 12:00 NOON

WHO: Citizens for Good Education is a grassroots network representing over 200 multi-faith, multiethnic community groups. Some of the communities/groups represented by CGE include: The Toronto Chinese Catholic Task-force, The Brampton Multicultural Alliance, the Hispanic Pastoral Network, Parents As First Educators, The Toronto Chinese Evangelical Ministerial Fellowship, The Catholic Civil Rights League, The York Parents Association, The Federation of Chinese Clan Associations of Canada, The United Front of Canada, Public Education Advocates for Christian Equity, Campaign Life Coalition, The Nanhai District (Canada) Association, Chinese Canadian Civic Alliance, Jubilee Centre for Christian Social Action, iiNFLUENCE Magazine, Real Women of Canada, various school trustees, and others.

WHY: CGE partners believe the Ontario Liberal Government has failed to conduct truly comprehensive parental consultation, as had been promised in 2010. CGE will announce a new campaign to demand greater transparency and broader parental consultation on the Sex Ed component of the revised Health & Physical Education curriculum before the content is finalized.
