Sullivan Children, Deaths in NS Jails, Guests Shirley Heafey and Curt Allen

Canada Nova Scotia police RCMP dysfunctionality cover-up politics complaints massacre mass shooting

This week, we are excited to introduce a new guest, former RCMP Complaints Commissioner, Shirley Heafey. She is joined by former RCMP Deputy Commissioner Curt Allen to discuss her career, her interactions with senior RCMP leadership, and her role in the Robert Dziekański case (where she assisted the responding officers, who were eventually exonerated by an OPP report on the incident).

Also discussed this week, the one year anniversary of the disappearance of Jack and Lilly Sullivan in rural Pictou County, and the latest RCMP statements. We also discuss the death of an inmate in custody, and the lack of information available for such situations. There was an emergency alert issued in Colchester County this week, near the area where the NS mass shootings took place, which is raising fresh questions about the lack of cooperation between the RCMP and Truro Police.

Francesca Albanese Warns UN Human Rights Council: "What Is Lost in Palestine Will Be Lost to Us All"

Francesca Albanese UN Human Rights Council Geneva Palestine Occupied Territories crimes against humanity torture genocide

On 23 March 2026, addressing the Human Rights Council in Geneva, Francesca Albanese said she stood before the Council with a deep sense of both injustice and resolve: “I have served this council with rigor and in good faith,” yet had faced “relentless personal threats, insults, and reprisals.” She said she remained committed “to bear witness, to speak the truth, and to reject complicity in this time of unremitting criminality,” as she presented her eighth report, which she described as documenting “the ongoing genocide against the Palestinian people.” Her statement focused on what she called Israel’s “widespread and systematic use of torture,” and on a broader “torturous environment” imposed on Palestinians across the occupied Palestinian territory.

Albanese argued that the testimonies and evidence documented in her report were “not just tragic stories of suffering” but “evidence of atrocity crimes,” concluding that “genocide has become the ultimate form of torture: continuous, generational, collective.” She urged states to act under international law, stressing that “Torture is absolutely prohibited in all circumstances, and so is genocide,” and warned that “disregard for international law will not stop in Palestine.” She ended with a stark appeal to the international community, saying: “What is lost in Palestine will be lost to us all.”

Prison Drones, Tumbler Ridge Inquiry?, Druhan's Ambitions, Guest Amy Herdy

Canada Nova Scotia mass casualty police RCMP cover-up journalism politics books

This week we welcome documentary filmmaker, Amy Herdy, of Cove Tower, based out of Boulder, Colorado. Amy is looking into making a documentary on the NS mass shootings after having read Paul's books on the subject. She discusses the industry, why she thinks no documentaries have been made to date about the shootings, and how she is different from other filmmakers.

Also this week, Paul and Adam discuss the Open AI meeting with federal ministers in the wake of the Tumbler Ridge school shootings. Should there be an inquiry into the school shootings.

Former NS Justice Minister Becky Druhan's seems to harbour ambitions to take on her former leader, Premier Tim Houston. She hinted at those ambitions in an interview she gave with CBC Information Morning, in the midst of Premier Houston's worst week as Premier.

These Canadian companies are making MONEY off of ICE and Trump's violent mass deportation regime

Canada business ICE immigration profiteering Trump violence brutality

The Trump administration’s Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) thugs are completely out of control — and there are Canadian companies who are profiting from this vicious agency.

After ICE gunned down yet another person for the crime of standing up to their abuses, I got angry. When I get angry, I research. So I tracked down Canadian companies who have open or recent contracts with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security — in other words, the Canadians pocketing profits from this mass deportation campaign.

Several of these companies used the U.S. branches of their companies as their listed address on the USASpending website, which hid them from maps circulating that plot Canadian companies profiting from ICE’s cruelty.

Here they are.

Canadians Cash In While America Burns

Canada U.S. America Aligator Alcatraz GardaWorld Roshel CGI oppression fascism

It’s easy to sit in judgement of the U.S., but Canada has enabled, and even profited from, the rise of American fascism.

What role is Canada playing in the United States’ fascist turn?

The Department of Homeland Security rounds up hundreds of migrants a day, throwing them in cages operated by the Canadian security firm GardaWorld.

As ICE agents sow terror in cities across the U.S., the Ontario manufacturer Roshel supplies them with armoured vehicles to facilitate their work.

While ICE saw its budget balloon to $75 billion last year, the Montreal-based CGI Inc. helped the agency manage its sprawling technology needs from offices in Washington, D.C. and Philadelphia.

And just days after the U.S. military abducted a sovereign head of state, Canadian politicians boasted about the coup creating opportunities for Alberta oil in Asian markets.

Everywhere you see American imperialism ruining lives, you’ll find unscrupulous Canadians cashing in. Our political class would rather we not acknowledge this reality, that we continue to fall for slogans like “elbows up” without actually considering the degree to which our economy has been absorbed by U.S. interests.  (more...)

Palestine Action hunger strike ends after UK scraps Elbit Systems contract

Palestine Action hunger strike Elbit Systems cancellation defiance UK youth activism solidarity

Three imprisoned Palestine Action activists survived a months-long hunger that has been described as a ‘landmark moment of pure defiance’

Three imprisoned Palestine Action activists ended a months-long hunger strike on 14 January after the UK government decided not to award a $2.7 billion military training contract to Israeli arms maker Elbit Systems’ British subsidiary.

“Elbit Systems is living on stolen time – we will see it shut down for good, not because of the government, but because of the people," Prisoners for Palestine said, crediting the outcome to sustained prisoner pressure.

The group also described the hunger strike as “a landmark moment of pure defiance, an embarrassment for the British state," adding that the strike “exposed to the world Britain has political prisoners in service of a foreign genocidal regime, and has seen hundreds of people commit to take direct action in the prisoners’ footsteps.”

On 15 January, Heba Muraisi, Kamran Ahmed, and Lewie Chiaramello confirmed they had begun refeeding under medical supervision after learning that Elbit Systems UK was denied the contract.

The deal would have seen the Israeli arms maker train up to 60,000 British troops each year over a decade.

Four other imprisoned activists - Teuta Hoxha, Jon Cink, Qesser Zuhrah, and Amu Gib - also resumed refeeding after pausing their strikes.  (more...)

The Machinery of Terror

Trump terror authoritarianism fascism collaboration informants compliance cowardice fascism brutality

The Trump administration is consolidating the familiar machinery of terror of all authoritarian states. We must resist now. If we wait, it will be too late.

I have seen the masked goons who terrorize our streets before. I saw them during the “Dirty War” in Argentina, where 30,000 men, women and children were “disappeared” by the military junta. Victims were held in secret prisons, savagely tortured and murdered. To this day, many families do not know the fate of their loved ones.

I saw them in El Salvador, when death squads were killing 800 people a month. I saw them in Guatemala under the dictatorship of José Efraín Ríos Montt. I saw them in Augusto Pinochet’s Chile and in Saddam Hussein’s Iraq. I saw them in Iran under the rule of the ayatollahs where I was arrested and jailed twice and once deported in handcuffs. I saw them in Hafez al-Assad’s Syria. I saw them in Bosnia, where Muslims were herded into concentration camps, executed and buried in mass graves.

I know these goons. I have been a prisoner in their jails and spent hours in their interrogation rooms. I have been beaten by them. I have been deported, and in several cases banned, from their countries. I know what is coming.

Terror is the engine that empowers dictatorships. It eliminates dissidents. It silences critics. It dismantles the law. It creates a society of timid and frightened collaborators, those who look away when people are snatched off streets or gunned down, those who inform to save themselves, those who retreat into their tiny rabbit holes, pulling down the blinds, desperately praying to be left in peace.

Terror works.  (more...)

Defence Department Brushed Aside ‘Bad Optics’ Of American Contracts

Canada military procurement CACI International Iraq Abu Ghraib prison abuse scandal optics

Canadian official raised questions about whether or not CACI should be awarded federal contracts.

Canada’s Department of National Defence (DND) brushed aside concerns about a pair of controversial contracts with an American company as little more than a question of bad “optics,” records obtained by The Maple show.

As reported by The Maple in July 2025, DND announced it was awarding two contracts worth $169 million to American defence company CACI for new counter drone systems.

Eight months prior, a federal jury in the United States found that one of CACI’s subsidiaries shared responsibility with the U.S. Army for abusing Iraqi detainees at the infamous Abu Ghraib prison in 2003 and 2004.

Before the deals were announced, a Canadian official raised questions about whether or not CACI should be awarded the contracts, documents newly obtained through an access to information request reveal. But the concerns primarily centred around fears of negative publicity.

In May, Col. Chris Poole, director of the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) armament sustainment program, emailed Eric German, senior director of Public Services and Procurement Canada’s munitions and tactical systems procurement directorate.

Poole noted that CACI “has been found legally responsible in a US federal lawsuit for abuse suffered at US military’s Abu Ghraib prison in Iraq.”

He then listed a series of questions, including whether or not the ruling was legal grounds for DND not to award the contracts to CACI.

Poole wrote: “One of my concerns is negative publicity potentially affecting subsequent contract awards and timely delivery of capability to our soldiers.”

He also suggested that DND’s public affairs staff might be notified “just in case this breaks before we have more info.”  (more...)

Israel Is the Global Rape Capital

Israel Sde Teiman prison rape torture impunity normalization sexual abuse depravity

The leaking of the video showing Israeli soldiers and their dog torturing and sodomizing a Palestinian prisoner/hostage in Sde Teiman desert prison has exposed to the whole world what Palestinians have known and suffered for the last 78 years on the hands of the so-called “most moral army” but kept unrevealed due to shame the sexual rape would bring on prisoners and on their families.

The release of the video caused an uproar and mass rallies in Israel. The act of leaking of the video shocked Israeli society more than the abhorrent crime itself. Mass Jewish Israeli demonstrations took place in front of the Supreme Court expressing their outrage over the leaking of the sexual abuse video of the Israeli soldiers and their dog raping a Palestinian prisoner, demanding the protection of these soldiers’ “right to rape Palestinians” and the persecution of Major General Yifat Tomer-Yerushalmi, who leaked the video. These protestors were incited and encouraged by TV commentators and Knesset members, who bragged about this crime, and proudly defended the soldiers’ right to rape Palestinians. Israel’s finance minister, Bezalel Smotrich, demanded to treat these sexually abusing soldiers as national heroes. A member of Likud Party, Hanoch Milividsky, stated that everything is legitimate to do to Hamas fighters. In the same token is it also legitimate to do to Israeli soldiers?

Watch DemocracyNow showing videos and discussing the Israeli torture and rape at Sde Teiman prison called by Palestinian prisoners “The Slaughter House, and The Torture Concentration Camp” where “engineered torture methods” are used as a revenge methods and tactics of asserting control and superiority.

Wearing masks these abusing Israeli soldiers stood outside the Supreme Court in Jerusalem portraying themselves as the victims (Jews are the only everlasting victims) when all what they had done was serving the state. After all these soldiers were only following the commands of their Jewish genocidal god, “Yahweh”, the commands of their many Jewish prophets, and the commands of their Rabbis to wipe off all goyims (non-Jews). Just read the Torah, the Mishnah, the Sanhedrin, and the Old Testament to acquaint yourself with such commands.  (more...)

Alleged Israeli rapists announce they ‘will win’

Israel IDF military crimes rape prosecution justice scandal sodomy

The IDF servicemen suspected of abusing a Palestinian detainee have demanded “support and gratitude”

Israeli soldiers accused of torturing and sexually assaulting a Palestinian prisoner at the Sde Teiman detention facility have publicly defended their actions, claiming they are being unfairly prosecuted and vowing to “fight for justice.”

The case relates to a July 2024 incident at the Sde Teiman military base in southern Israel, where five reservists were initially charged with rape and later indicted for “aggravated abuse” after video footage appeared to show soldiers assaulting a blindfolded Palestinian detainee. The man allegedly sustained multiple injuries, including a ruptured bowel and severe rectal trauma.

Wearing black masks to conceal their identities, the accused servicemen appeared outside Israel’s Supreme Court in West Jerusalem on Monday, delivering a defiant statement to the press.

“Instead of appreciation, we received accusations – instead of thanks, there was silence,” one of the masked soldiers said. “You didn’t let us respond, you didn’t let us explain. You put us on trial in front of the cameras as if you had already decided who the culprit is.”

“We will not be silent. We will continue to fight for justice,” he added. “We will win, because there is only one truth.”  (more...)

‘We cannot take our eyes away from Gaza’ says Greta Thunberg after release from Israeli detention

Greta Thunberg Global Sumud Flotilla abduction mistreatment abuse prison Israel Palestine solidarity humanitarian aid Gaza genocide

Swedish activist Greta Thunberg on Monday spoke publicly for the first time following her release from Israeli detention, where she said that she was beaten and forced to kiss the Israeli flag.

Thunberg was among 171 people deported by Israeli authorities after being detained for participating in the Global Sumud Flotilla, a mission aimed at breaking the Israeli siege and delivering humanitarian aid to Gaza.

Speaking at Eleftherios Venizelos Airport in Athens, the Greek capital, Thunberg stressed that her personal ordeal was not the central issue.

“I can talk for a very long time about our mistreatment and the abuses we faced in prison, trust me,” she said. “But that is not the story. Let me be very clear, there is a genocide going on in front of our very eyes. A live-streamed genocide.”

Palestine Action Activist Calla Walsh Calls On Persons Of Conscience To Rise Up

Palestine Action repression activism conscience uprising resistance resilience civil disobedience youth imprisonment hunger strikes steadfastness

Dimitri Lascaris speaks with Calla Walsh, a co-founder of Palestine Action U.S.

Calla is a 21-year old anti-imperialist organizer, writer, and freelance journalist based in the United States.

Calla served time in jail last year for attacking an Elbit Systems weapons factory in New Hampshire. Despite her criminal conviction - which has cost her dearly - Calla remains unrepentant.

Calla argues that peaceful protest is not enough. Persons of conscience must engage in direct action and civil disobedience on a massive scale.

Calla also discussed the plight of two Palestine Action activists who remain imprisoned in the United Kingdom and the United States. Their names are T. Hoxha and Casey Goonan.

The tool-kit for helping T. Hoxha and Casey Goonan can be found here:
