Stopping contemporary fascism: What is to be done?

 

Contemporary fascism has evolved into a globalized system of authoritarian domination led by the US and its allies, combining military aggression, economic coercion, media manipulation, and institutional capture against resistance movements and sovereign states across the Global South.

The first four months of 2026 will be recorded in the memory of the peoples of the Global South as the period in which contemporary fascism abandoned the last vestiges of hypocrisy. Far from being a mere historical replica of the interwar regimes, this phenomenon has evolved into a transnational architecture of domination led by the elites of the United States and their strategic partners —a hybrid, financialized, algorithmic, and transnational authoritarianism that feeds on digital polarization, institutional capture from within, the commodification of security, and the tacit alliance between military-industrial complexes, technological oligarchies, and reactionary governments — where the threat and coercive use of force have progressively replaced any operative vestige of international law.

The UN and international laws are not ignored out of carelessness or institutional incompetence; they are subjected to a systematic emptying, selectively instrumentalized, and neutralized when they collide with the strategic interests of the hegemonic center. De facto, the law of the strongest prevails, but it is masked in narratives of national security, financial stability, protection of human rights, and other fallacies that function as juridical smokescreens. What until recently was presented as "diplomatic pressure" or "selective sanctions" has been transformed, in an accelerated and structural manner, into massive and arbitrary economic sanctions, direct or covert military intervention, de facto territorial occupation, and planned humanitarian asphyxiation.

From the rupture of the Venezuelan government on January 3 —with the kidnapping of President Nicolás Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, within the framework of "Operation Absolute Resolve" — to the unjustified and treacherous aggression by the United States and "Israel" against Iran, "Operation Epic Fury", launched on February 28 — which has also reached Lebanon as an object of aggression — the US empire has synchronized its blows with a precision that seeks to eliminate all poles of resistance in a single movement.

However, at the beginning of May, the balance is not what Washington expected. It is true: some progressive States in Latin America have fallen or have been neutralized. Argentina has become a laboratory of the far right. Venezuela is under intervention. To them have been added other countries that have subordinated their foreign policies to Washington: Honduras, El Salvador, Ecuador, Chile, Paraguay, Costa Rica, Panama, the Dominican Republic, Bolivia, Guyana, and Trinidad and Tobago, all of which participated in the "Shield of the Americas" summit convened by Trump on March 7, sealing their alignment with the empire's hemispheric strategy within an updated Monroe Doctrine. The dream of a powerful autonomous regional bloc, of ALBA, of UNASUR, has been dismantled, for the moment. An even greater threat now hangs over the region: Cuba and Nicaragua are in the direct line of fire.

But the peoples — that category which desk analysts often confuse with their governments — have not been defeated. On the contrary, in the most extreme adversity, they are discovering new forms of organization and new transnational alliances. Underlying them is a consciousness and a historical memory that fascism will never manage to erase. However, it is decisive that the revolutionary movements be capable of orienting and mobilizing them.

This article aims to provide a diagnosis and a strategic analysis of the situation, identifying the weaknesses that have cost dearly, the threats that are pending, but also the strengths that sustain the resistance and the opportunities that, if well leveraged, can change the course of history. It upholds a fundamental thesis that must be clear from the outset: the most progressive States themselves — even while being capitalist, as well as those that are part of the long-awaited phenomenon of multi-polarization — have the historical obligation to confront this rapidly evolving process of fascistization. Taking a passive, supposedly neutral, stance of "exclusively" national interest — if this were even possible in a globalized world — becomes a boomerang for everyone. Fascism prospers, intends to swallow the weakest and most helpless, but in the end will try to devour the entire planet. This happened with Hitler: he was allowed to advance until, far too late, a limit was imposed on him. Tens of millions of human beings died. History cannot repeat that grave error.  (more...)

The Western political and cultural system is seen as an Epstein Class horror show. Emblematic is this week’s trip by the British King and Queen to the United States during the U.S. 250th anniversary of America defeating the British Empire. The spectacle began today with music, flags and red carpet on the tarmac at Air Force Base Andrews, followed by a tea party in town.

The LaRouche Organization has released a statement for Washington, D.C. and international circulation: “The British Are Back To Finish the War of 1812— This Time by Invitation” ,or, “LaRouche Was Right!”

The statement says: … “Who invited the British Royals to address a joint session of the U.S. Congress on the 250th anniversary of the American Declaration of Independence? Formally speaking, the invitation was issued appropriately enough on April Fool’s Day, 2026, by the following fools: Speaker of the House of Representatives Mike Johnson, Senate Majority Leader John Thune, Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer, and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries. But as we’ve seen on too many occasions, it doesn’t seem to be the members of Congress calling the shots, but rather their big-money Epstein-class owners.

American economist and eight-time presidential candidate Lyndon LaRouche was famous for his identification of the British Empire as the source of most of the evil on the planet, particularly since British Lord Bertrand Russell took over science at the turn of the 20th century.

This assessment has not been unique to LaRouche: In 1776 it was the subject of the American Declaration of Independence, which includes a long list of grievances (crimes) committed by the British against the American colonists. The British never apologized for these abuses, but went on to attempt to burn down Washington in 1812, and to promote the slave trade and the Confederacy during the misnamed “Civil War.”

Helga Zepp-LaRouche, Schiller Institute founder and leader, emphatically made the observation today that “the collapse of the old order is undeniable.” This means that, “it is no longer utopian” to mobilize for a new system. “We must have a new order.”

The extreme danger if this change of direction does not come about is seen in the insanity of certain European nations squaring off against Russia, a nuclear power. German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius issued a statement April 22 about the military strategy of the German armed forces, stressing that Russia poses an acute threat to Germany, and hence a massive mobilization for re-armament is necessary. He proclaimed, “We are developing the Bundeswehr into the strongest conventional army in Europe,” and went into short-, medium- and long-term goals for superiority. The prospects for the German economy to succeed in doing this are delusionary, but the intent itself is madness.

Kaja Kallas, the European Union’s foreign policy chief, served a cocktail of dishonesty and farce this week.

“Europe is the biggest supporter of the Palestinian people,” she said on Monday.

The next day, the EU’s governments demonstrated just how big their support is by once again declining to hold Israel accountable for its genocidal violence against the Palestinian people.

One million EU citizens have signed a call to withdraw trade privileges from Israel. Rather than take that basic step, the EU’s governments have imposed more sanctions on Iran, the target of aggression by Israel and the United States.

Diplomats working under Kallas certainly cannot be viewed as the biggest supporters of the Palestinian people.

A document I obtained through a freedom of information request illustrates that more than two years after the Gaza genocide began, the Israel lobby is still writing the script which key Brussels officials follow.

Hélène Le Gal, head of the Middle East division in the EU’s diplomatic service, appears particularly willing to have the script written for her.

The document shows that Le Gal has agreed to be a host of a “strategic dialogue” organized jointly by the diplomatic service and the pro-Israel group called the European Leadership Network (Elnet). Scheduled for 12-13 May, the event will feature “30 high-level policy and opinion makers – 15 from the EU and 15 from Israel,” says the invitation for the event.

Le Gal agreed that the invitation could be issued in her name, just requesting “tiny tweaks,” according to email messages exchanged between Elnet and her colleagues at the diplomatic service.

It is instructive that Le Gal and her entourage sought no more than “tiny tweaks” to the invitation.

The original draft states that the diplomatic service “presents the EU’s positions and interests to the government of Israel, with the overall goal of advancing relations between the EU and Israel.”

While that phrasing doesn’t appear to have encountered any fundamental objections, at least one of Le Gal’s colleagues felt it was too reductive. An edit was proposed so that it would be clear that the service works “across the globe,” including on EU-Israel relations.

Nobody seemed bothered about the stated goal of “advancing relations” with a state carrying out a genocide.  (more...)

Without European citizens, Arab governments, or the ‘international community’ noticing, Rome had been secretly transformed into an international nucleus of “illegal traffic in arms for the Jewish underground.” 

Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni’s April 13th announcement that Rome will suspend a longstanding defense agreement with "Israel" sent shockwaves throughout Europe. Historically, Italian governments - even when led by figures who abhor Zionism - have enjoyed constructive, close ties with Tel Aviv. Mossad and Rome’s security, intelligence, and military apparatus also have a long-running clandestine relationship. In fact, the entity’s putrid overseas spying, assassination, and sabotage nexus was effectively born in Italy and has wreaked havoc in the country ever since.

Details of how Zionist spies secured a firm foothold in Italy are provided in a fascinating paper by academic Massimiliano Fiore. Drawing on archival sources, he “traces the evolution of Israeli clandestine activity” in Rome, demonstrating how Zionist intelligence connivances were waged in and against the country even before the entity’s May 1948 founding and throughout the war of erasure against Palestine that subsequently erupted. Several case studies map how Mossad’s criminality evolved over time, growing ever bolder, while informing how the agency operates globally today.

The story begins in the wake of the United Nations General Assembly’s November 1947 Partition Plan, which granted Zionist colonizers 55% of Palestine’s territory. Arab states immediately began preparing to resist the entity’s construction, training soldiers in Palestine and neighbouring countries for the purpose. In response, "Israel’s" founder, David Ben-Gurion, issued a directive to Zionist paramilitary and intelligence factions to secure weapons for the impending genocidal war over Palestinian territory, while denying them to Arab forces. 

Fiore records how the chief Mossad le-Aliyah Bet and Rekhesh - respectively, the spying and arms procurement wings of notorious Zionist paramilitary Haganah - immediately “established a sabotage unit in Rome that quickly became an operational hub of Israeli covert activity in Italy and across Europe.” Thereafter, Zionist operatives “exploited Italy’s political ambiguity and physical infrastructure to conduct a sustained campaign of sabotage and interception.” The academic dubs this covert contest on Italian soil “a secret front” in the 1948 war.

Rome’s ports and air and sea transport corridors “played a critical role in sustaining Israeli supply” of weapons for the 1948 war, while disrupting the flow of arms to Arab militaries. Moreover, Zionists “sought to shape the Mediterranean balance of power” for their own malign purposes. Their covert actions - “conducted under conditions of political tolerance and diplomatic constraint” - forged strong bonds with the Italian state, while supplanting Rome’s status “as a strategic bridge between Europe, North Africa, and the Middle East.”

Trump’s portrayal of himself as Jesus, or anointed by Jesus, is typical of cult leaders.

During the two years I spent writing “American Fascists: The Christian Right and the War on America,” I encountered numerous mini-Trumps. These self-proclaimed pastors — very few had any formal religious training — preyed on the despair of their congregants. They were surrounded by sycophants and could not be questioned. They merged fact with fiction, peddled magical thinking and enriched themselves at the expense of their followers. They claimed their wealth and ostentatious lifestyle, including mansions and private jets, was a sign of being blessed. They insisted they were divinely inspired and anointed by God. They were, within their hermetic circles of their megachurches, omnipotent.

These cult pastors promised to use their omnipotence to crush the demonic forces that had created misery in the lives of their followers — unemployment and underemployment, evictions, bankruptcies, poverty, addiction, sexual and domestic abuse, and crippling despair. The more power the cult leaders possess — according to their followers — the more certain is a promised paradise. Cult leaders stand above the law. Those who desperately place their faith in them want them to be above the law.

Cult leaders are narcissists. They demand obsequious adulation and total obedience. Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s claim that Donald Trump is able to draw a “perfect map” of the Middle East, or White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt’s statement that Trump is always the “most well-read person in the room,” are two of innumerable examples of the abject fawning required by those in a cult leader’s inner circle. Blind loyalty matters more than competence.

Cult leaders are immune from rational and fact-based critiques amongst those who invest hope in them. This is why Trump’s hardcore followers have not abandoned him and will not abandon him. All the chatter about fissures in the MAGA universe misreads Trump cultists.

All cults are personality cults. They are extensions of the prejudices, worldview, personal style and ideas of the cult leader. Trump, with his faux “Trump crest,” revels in Louis XVI-inspired tasteless kitsch awash in gold Rococo and glittering chandeliers. The women in Trump’s court have “Mar-a-Lago Faces” – overinflated lips, taut, wrinkle-free skin, silicone gel-filled breast implants and chiseled cheekbones, capped off by gobs of make-up. They wear stiletto heels and garish outfits that Trump finds appealing. Trump’s men, who in his eyes must be telegenic and from “Central casting,” dress like 1950s advertising executives. For all the journalistic coverage of the 9/11 attacks, the profound effect the event had on the psyche of the American public and the continuing reverberation of the event in our national discourse and affairs, the actual operational substance of the attacks has been eclipsed.

William Luther Pierce is the author of the iconic, influential book The Turner Diaries, the document that profoundly influenced the Nazi terror group The Order and particularly Timothy McVeigh and his associates in the execution of the Oklahoma City Bombing.

In 1998, he did a radio broadcast titled “Stay Out of Tall Buildings.”

In that program, Pierce had some telling prognostications: “ . . . . In one chilling commentary Pierce, (after noting that Bin Laden and the rest of the lost generation of angry Moslem youth had it with their parents’ compromises and were hell bent on revenge against infidel America) issued this stark, prophetic warning in a 1998 radio address titled, ‘Stay Out of Tall Buildings.’ ‘New Yorkers who work in tall office buildings anything close to the size of the World Trade Center might consider wearing hard hats . . .’ Pierce warned. . . . [Italics are mine—D.E.].”

Pierce also predicted that Osama bin Laden was coming and the U.S. would be hit with biological warfare attacks.

Pierce’s comments are not only prophetic of what was to take place in the U.S. on 9/11/2001 but foreshadowed the anthrax attacks that followed.

Coincidence is further stretched by analysis of Pierce’s tract and ideological manifesto The Turner Diaries. That book’s key episodes may be seen as foreshadowing key aspects of the 9/11 attacks.

That book (again, authored by the above-mentioned William Pierce) concludes with a low-level suicide aerial attack against the Pentagon. “ . . . . We went over every possibility we could think of, and we came up with no really convincing plan—except, perhaps one. That is to make an air delivery of a bomb. . . . In the massive ring of defenses around the Pentagon there is a great deal of anti-aircraft firepower, but we decided that a small plane, flying just above the ground, might be able to get through the three-mile gauntlet with one of our 60-kiloton warheads. . . .”  (more...)

“Deep State” Researcher Mae Brussell Was a Visionary Who Foresaw the Rise of Fascism in America

 

Dubbed the “Queen of Conspiracy” and a “modern Sherlock Holmes,” Mae Brussell (1922-1988), the daughter of a prominent Los Angeles rabbi and a Beverly Hills housewife, became one of the 20th century’s foremost researchers of the so-called “deep state.”

The latter concept implies a hidden aspect of the U.S. government dominated by the CIA and FBI working on behalf of the interests of large corporations, which carries out illegal activities with impunity.

Reading some ten newspapers a day, along with hundreds of books on assassination and espionage, Brussell was a pioneer researcher into the John F. Kennedy, Robert F. Kennedy and Martin Luther King, Jr., assassinations.

She was also way ahead of her time in recognizing the hidden CIA involvement in Watergate, the Jonestown massacre, Charles Manson killings, Symbionese Liberation Army (SLA), and murder of John Lennon among other “deep-state” crimes.

Before CIA whistleblower Philip Agee was writing on the topic, Brussell understood the CIA to be an instrument of a plutocratic elite intent on stamping out progressive movements and anyone who threatened their authority.

The Kennedy assassination, in her assessment, provided a “blueprint of espionage work for any operation.”

Brussell stated that a “linear connection” existed “between [John] Kennedy’s assassination and Bobby Kennedy’s and the incident at Chappaquiddick (involving Senator Ted Kennedy) and Martin Luther King and [the attempted assassination of 1972 presidential candidate George C.] Wallace. It wasn’t just planned for Dallas; it wasn’t just that they didn’t want JFK because of the Bay of Pigs invasion.”

Even as right-wing a figure as Richard Nixon became the target of the “deep state” in the Watergate coup because some of his policies were too liberal.

Considering Nixon to be the “frontman” for a criminal cabal that seized control of the U.S. government in the wake of the JFK assassination, Brussell depicted him as a key figure in Operation Paperclip, under which the CIA recruited Nazis after World War II.

The CIA’s adoption of Nazi methods was evident in the cultivation of germ weapons at its biological weapons laboratory at Fort Detrick, Maryland, and its carrying out of medical and psychiatric experimentation on unwitting subjects under Operation MK-ULTRA, where CIA psychiatrists used hypnosis to turn people into zombies that could be programmed to commit political murders.[5]

Additionally, Brussell reported on the CIA’s proclivity to stir revolts, overthrow governments, and support fascist coups like in Greece in 1967 and Chile in 1973, and its development of a wide range of high-tech assassination weapons, including guns disguised as loudspeakers and vapors that could erase human memory.  (more...)

US-German billionaire Peter Thiel, a co-founder of PayPal and Palantir Technologies, is holding a controversial series of lectures on the Antichrist in Rome this week, prompting criticism from Vatican-linked officials and institutions, according to multiple media reports. Thiel continues to face scrutiny over his ties to the late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

The invitation-only conference, which began on Sunday and runs through Wednesday, is taking place at a secret location near the Vatican.

Canadian monarchists are trying to blame the Iranian government for a killing apparently committed by supporters of the Shah. This type of inversion of reality underpins discussion of Iran, masking a fanaticism that likely contributed to the murder of Masood Masjoody.

On Saturday the Vancouver police reported the arrest of two suspects in the killing of Masjoody. Mehdi Ahmadzadeh and Arezou Soltani were charged with first degree murder.

A former SFU professor involved in many legal disputes, Masjoody disappeared in early February.

Opponents of the Iranian government immediately accused Tehran of murdering him. A UK Guardian headline, for instance, read “Iranian mathematician missing in Canada may have been targeted by Tehran, activists say.”

This frame dominated the discussion of his disappearance despite the fact Masjoody was suing the son of Iran’s former Shah Reza Pahlavi.

While the police haven’t cited any motive for the murder — if there was evidence of Tehran’s involvement it would have been mentioned — the two individuals charged are staunch monarchists. Masjoody had tweeted that the two individuals charged with his murder wanted to kill him because of his opposition to Pahlavi. In many cases, these alleged sex cults have been reportedly entangled with intelligence agencies, such as the United States (US) Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) and the Israeli Mossad. Consider the following three case studies: 

1. The Finders cult, which was investigated for child sex trafficking and Satanic ritual abuse, was reported to be a CIA front operation posing as a “‘futurist’ network” guided by “human potential” psychology, “New Age” spirituality, and “Eastern mysticism.”
2. Sects of Tibetan Tantric Buddhists under the auspices of the Dalai Lama, who has served as a longtime CIA asset, have been accused of sexually abusing devotees through Tantric rituals conducted at Maurice Strong’s New Age mountain retreats in Crestone, Colorado.
3. The NXIVM cult, which branded its “sex slaves” under the cloak of its “human potential” development programs, was supported by members of the billionaire Bronfman family,  at least one of whom was instrumental in the broader network of the child sex trafficking operations of Jeffrey Epstein, who was evidently yoked with the CIA and the Mossad.

Are these overlaps between New Age sex cults and intelligence agencies merely tenuous coincidences? Or do these patterns suggest the existence of underground networks of intelligence operatives who orchestrate or infiltrate New Age cults in order to experiment with Tantric sex rituals and other forms of “sex magic” as tools for psychological operations?  (more...)
