The North Bay man serving a life sentence in the U.S. for raping a four year old and operating the child porn website Child's Play worked as a lifeguard for more than six years at the North Bay YMCA, The Nugget has learned.
“After first being contacted by a detective from the Toronto Police Service in 2016, we learned of the investigation and subsequent arrest and conviction of Benjamin Faulkner in relation to illegal acts he had committed while in the U.S.,” said Sylvie Montpellier, interim chief executive officer of the YMCA of Northeastern Ontario.
“He was a former employee whose job with us ended in 2014. We were shocked and disturbed to hear of the charges and co-operated fully with the police investigation.
“Our hearts go out to all of the children and families who were affected by these horrendous crimes,” Montpellier said. “As an organization, we remain strongly committed to the safety and well-being of the children in our care, and have comprehensive policies and practices that are always a top priority.”
Benjamin Faulkner was arrested in October 2016 at a home in Montpelier Va., according to the Richmond Times Dispatch.
Faulkner and his business partner, Patrick Falte of Nashville, were sentenced to life (minimum 30 years) on Sept. 15 in Richmond for raping a four-year-old girl and operating Child's Play – the world's biggest child sex website according to the UK Daily Mail. (more...)
