Guelph high school teacher charged with sex offences involving a youth


A teacher at Guelph's College Heights Secondary School has been charged with several sex-related offences involving a youth.

Guelph Police issued the following release late afternoon on Tuesday:

"On Sept. 8, 2017, the Guelph Police Service commenced an investigation into allegations against a 49-year-old Guelph teacher in relation to sexual offences involving a youth.

On Sept. 11, 2017, Brian Hathway, was arrested and charged by the Guelph Police Service for Sexual Assault, Sexual Exploitation and Obtain Sexual Services for Consideration – Under 18. Brian Hathway is a teacher employed with the Upper Grand District School Board and taught at a local high school since 2003.

The Upper Grand District School Board has been fully cooperative with the Guelph Police Service during this investigation. The charges related to this investigation stem from incidents that occurred from 2016 to the present.  (more...)
