States where bestiality (sex with animals) is legal

Janey
After the article written about Janey, the poor innocent dog who had been sexually abused for her entire life, there were numerous questions about how this could possibly be legal in the United States.

Sadly, in 17 states bestiality/zoophilia is still legal. This includes Guam and American Samoa. The other states where it's legal are Alabama, Connecticut, Hawaii, Kentucky, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, North Carolina, Ohio, Texas, Vermont, West Virginia, Wyoming and the District of Columbia. That's a sad commentary about our country where this type of atrocity is allowed to go on with virtually no legal ramifications.

In those states where it's still legal, the only consideration that's given is if someone is charged with animal cruelty for something else, and the prosecutors choose to add it to the list, but since there's no actual legal language on the books, that rarely happens.  (more...)
