On February 2, 2025, Eli Schwarz was at a protest in a Toronto neighbourhood and began to utter threats at pro-Palestinian counter protesters. He also told a Toronto police officer that he was a member of Zionist terror group, Kach, a listed terror entity in Canada. On February 3, Toronto Police executed a search of his home and found a rifle and 10 boxes of ammunition, a soft armoured vest, and Kahane, Kach insignia. I was blown away when I saw the Toronto Police press release because I had documented Eli Schwarz on the campus of the University of Toronto on numerous occasions. He was a menacing figure but for some reason the university had no problem allowing him on campus. All of this, while the University of Toronto persecutes and punishes faculty and students for expressing solidarity with Palestine and Palestinians and the Canadian parliament convenes ridiculous panels about the safety of Jewish students on university campuses.
