What is The Hague Group?

Nine countries have come together to form The Hague Group in support of Palestinian rights.

This newly formed coalition of countries say they refuse to remain passive in the face of international crimes and genocidal actions committed by Israel.

Their goal is to take coordinated legal, economic, and diplomatic measures against Israel’s ongoing actions in Gaza and beyond.

The countries that came together to make up the Hague Group include South Africa, Malaysia, Colombia, Cuba, Bolivia, Honduras, Namibia, Senegal and Belize.

The Hague Group’s formation marks an unprecedented effort to challenge Israeli impunity, but it also raises questions about its impact on global politics. With diplomatic and military backing from powerful allies like the United States, will Israel face real consequences?

“In a world where powerful nations act with impunity, we must stand together to defend the principles of justice, equality, and human rights.”

That is how Varsha Gandikota-Nellutla, the group’s acting chair, described the need for the formation, adding that this move was “born of necessity”
