UK: Former Radio 1 DJ Chris Denning charged with child sex offences

The former BBC Radio 1 DJ Chris Denning has been charged with historical child sex offences as part of a police investigation into a youth disco.

Denning, 75, from London, has been charged with six sexual offences against four boys under the age of 16 during the 1960s and 1970s.

He will appear at Westminster magistrates court on 14 July.

A Surrey police spokesman said: “The charges relate to the wider investigation into non-recent sexual offences connected to the Walton Hop disco named Operation Ravine.”

The music mogul Jonathan King, from Bayswater, west London, has been questioned as part of the inquiry and is on bail until 13 October. Police are still investigating an 86-year-old man from Walton-on-Thames, Surrey.  (more...)
