Ex-CBC filmmaker faces 31 new voyeurism charges

TORONTO - Toronto Police say 14 new victims were unknowingly filmed in a former senior CBC filmmaker's downtown home, including children.

Ian Campbell, a 63-year-old associate director who had worked with the CBC's Toronto-based documentary unit, turned himself in to police Monday after 38 new charges were laid in connection to a voyeurism investigation at his 133 Wilton St. home.

“Police had seized quite a number of cameras and video tape evidence,” Const. David Hopkinson said Tuesday.

“We pored over the evidence and were able to identify or had a number of people come to us and say, listen, I saw your appeal and believe I may have been victimized by this person.”

Police began their investigation in July after a couple who had been staying at Ian Campbell's Esplanade-George St. area apartment found numerous cameras hidden in various rooms, including the bedroom and bathroom “where the most private and intimate moments of our lives would be captured,” Hopkinson said.

Campbell faces 31 counts of voyeurism, five charges of making child pornography, and two counts of unlawfully possessing child pornography.  (more...)

The CBC doesn't stress his former employment so much:

2014 not the CBC's best year.
