Teresa Pierre, whose group has launched a petition objecting to the “graphic” revision of the current curriculum, said the government’s decision to assign school principals to hand pick one parent from each school to participate in a survey is not meaningful consultation.
“Another major concern is that the survey is not on the curriculum,” Pierre said. “They’re not introducing the curriculum for proper public response.
“If you’re going to be telling us that there’s going to a new curriculum, then it’s the responsibility of the government to tell what’s in it,” she said.
A previous revised version of the Ontario sex education curriculum was delayed by former premier Dalton McGuinty after many parents complained that their children would be introduced to explicit information at too young an age. (more...)
