R.A. Dickey uses baseball as powerful platform to fight sexual abuse


Opening up about childhood sexual abuse is never easy, especially in the macho world of sport.

In Canada, NHL players Sheldon Kennedy and Theo Fleury are the most high profile athletes to broach the difficult topic in public.

Now another big name has joined in: the newest Toronto Blue Jay, R.A. Dickey.

“Sport has provided us with the opportunity to get the white elephant out of the room,” the 2012 Cy Young winner said Tuesday during his first interview with Canadian reporters since he was traded from the New York Mets to Toronto.  (more...)
