In an interview for Al Mayadeen, investigative researcher, broadcaster, and academic, David Miller, argues that European powers are “trying to have it both ways," distancing themselves from US-led actions they see as illegal, while still offering support behind the scenes.
He points to France and Spain stepping back from a US coalition against the Yemeni Armed Forces, exposing limits in Washington’s ability to project power. Yet, at the same time, countries like Spain have allowed US overflights involved in the war against Iran, and the UK continues providing intelligence support from Cyprus.
According to Miller, this reflects a broader European strategy: publicly cautious due to international law and public opinion, but still materially backing US and Israeli actions in the region.
