This video was sent to me by a concerned citizen. The video was taken during the Pride 2014 event in Toronto, Ontario. Toronto District School Board Trustee for Ward 5 - York Centre, Howard Kaplan (in the khaki Tilley hat), is clearly visible in the video. Trustee Kaplan walks from right to left in the screen and repeats the slur twice: "Jesus is a homophobe."
For an elected official of a public school board to make such an irreverent, disrespectful and inflammatory remark about a religious figure is completely unacceptable. Tens of thousands of Students and Staff who attend and work in TDSB schools are of the Christian faith.Trustee Kaplan displays an astonishing capacity for bad judgement in this video clip. This man is an elected public official with the Toronto District School Board! Shame on him and the TDSB.
