Myls Dobson |
I’ve seen many cases of severe abuse that have led to the death of a child. In fact, three decades ago I investigated more than 200 such cases during the course of a lengthy examination of the child welfare system. But I’ve never seen one quite like the torture murder of Myls Dobson.
What struck me right from the get go was how convoluted the story is. I had to read each article several times just to figure out who was what and where and when. The description of the murderer confused me initially. The killer was consistently referred to as the father’s new “girlfriend.” “She” had a $3,200 per month apartment at the Ritz Plaza in Midtown Manhattan and was a “transgender performer,” whatever that means. I could not find any mention of where “she” performed. (Nor was there any explanation of how in the world “she” made enough money for such an apartment?) (more...)
