“Scouts Honor” – Pedophilia

As Dave McGowan argues in Programmed to Kill, the standard profile of serial killers as lone nuts driven only by their inner demons is often wildly inaccurate. When the evidence from numerous high-profile cases is assembled, there are an astounding number of parallels that create a much different image of the serial killer. Many serial killings are in fact murders of political significance, used to protect criminal enterprises such as drug trafficking or sex rings. Even more disturbingly, there is often evidence of mind control programming by intelligence fronts: the military, prisons, mental hospitals, doctors, Satanic cults, etc. Such programming is used to condition these "serial killers" to commit crimes they otherwise would not or confess to crimes they did not actually commit. The treatment of serial killers by law enforcement and the courts is filled with irregularities as a result. Before committing the crimes that brought them notoriety, many serial killers received extremely lenient treatment to the point of cover-up, evidently enjoying protection as a government asset. Once they were no longer needed, they were railroaded into taking the fall as a lone killer, prevented from maintaining their innocence or revealing accomplices.

Boy Scout sex abuse scandal’s stunning toll: Over 12,200 reported victims

abuse Boy Scouts boys crime homosexuality misconduct pedophilia rape

For decades, the Boy Scouts of America has closely guarded a trove of documents that detail sexual abuse allegations against troop leaders and others.

The most complete public accounting so far came in 2012, when the Los Angeles Times published internal Scout records about accusations against some 5,000 leaders and volunteers named in the organization’s blacklist, known as the “perversion files.”

Now, an even clearer picture of the scope of the alleged sexual abuse is emerging. A researcher hired by the Scouts to analyze a more complete set of records from 1944 to 2016 testified earlier this year that she had identified 7,819 suspected abusers and 12,254 victims, marking the youth group’s first known tallies.

But even those numbers likely understate how many molesters infiltrated the Scouts’ ranks over the years, according to lawyers who have sued the organization on behalf of hundreds of alleged victims. Most of the suspected offenders were accused of abusing multiple boys, they noted, and many instances of abuse were never reported. Several lawyers also said they had signed up hundreds of new clients and that many of their claims accuse men who aren’t on the Scouts’ blacklist.  (more...)

Former scout leader facing child pornography charges

An Ajax man, who previously worked as a volunteer in a scouts organization, is facing six child pornography charges.

Toronto police said they executed a search warrant at a home near Westney Rd. S. and Ravenscroft Rd., north of Kingston Rd. W. on Oct. 19.

Police allege that a man placed an online ad looking to initiate sexual acts with a person. He then allegedly chatted with someone to make arrangements to commit sexual acts on a child.

Police further allege that in the chats, the man sent images of child sexual abuse.

Robert Ratcliffe, 54, was arrested. He has been charged with possession of child pornography, accessing child pornography, making child pornography available, distributing child pornography, making child pornography, and making an arrangement to commit sexual interference.

Police said they believe Ratcliffe had close association with children since 2010 through his volunteer work. In his LinkedIn page, he was listed as a former scout leader for Scouts Canada.

The organization spokesperson John Petitti said Ratcliffe served as a volunteer in the organization from September 2010 to August 2014.  (more...)

Convicted perv Anglican minister target of proposed class-action lawsuit

A notorious former Anglican minister and scout leader convicted of sexually abusing dozens of indigenous boys over a 12-year period is among those named in a lawsuit seeking more than $100 million in damages for lifetimes worth of suffering.

Lawyers filed the class action suit on Thursday against Ralph Rowe, the disgraced former cleric who courts found used remote First Nations communities in northwestern Ontario and Manitoba as hunting grounds for young boys to sate his sexual appetites.

The suit also names the Anglican Synod of the Diocese of Keewatin in northwestern Ontario and Scouts Canada.

Rowe, who was ordained as an Anglican minister in 1975, spent the next dozen years flying himself in and out of isolated communities where he ran youth activities ranging from hockey games to overnight camping trips, usually in his capacity as either a priest or a registered leader with the organization now known as Scouts Canada.

Numerous criminal trials have heard that Rowe would groom young boys under the guise of playing games before ultimately sexually abusing them, sometimes for years.  (more...)

Survivors Rowe: He was a minister... from Loud Roar Productions on Vimeo.
For almost twenty years Ralph Rowe held a unique esteem in the isolated First Nation Reserves of Northern Ontario. As an Anglican minister and a Boy Scout leader, Rowe was revered and trusted by community elders and cultivated adoration from all the children he worked with. He had the perfect cover for a pedophile. Rowe abused an estimated 500 native boys throughout the 1970s and 80s.

“Survivors Rowe” documents the harrowing and tragic stories of three men who as boys were victims of Rowe. Joshua Frog, John Fox and Ralph Winter open their hearts to recount the abuse they experienced as children, and how their lives disintegrated because of it. A melody of pain, anguish, forgiveness and love, these three brave men embody the sacred truth that it’s only when one confronts their past, that they are able to face their future.

Men accused in Quebec child porn bust worked as teachers, scout leaders

Claude Paquette and David Turcotte, arrested on child pornography charges,
both worked as scout leaders.
Several of the men arrested in connection with a pedophile ring worked with children or had prior charges of child pornography.

Thirteen men were arrested and charged after Quebec and Ontario police busted an online pedophile ring on Wednesday.

Two of the men, Claude Paquette and David Turcotte, volunteered as group leaders for the scout troupe Adventurer Association of Baden-Powell.

It's not clear if the two men knew each other, Nicolas Rousseau, vice-president of the association, said.

"We're very shocked. Personally, I don't know this person, but they took all the necessary steps to be animators," he said, referring to background checks and other forms.

Neither were the subject of complaints from parents or kids, and both are no longer allowed to volunteer, he said.  (more...)

Dandy peer and the sex trial that changed Britain

The obligatory bimbos, err, feminists
By the time of his death yesterday, aged 88, Lord Montagu of Beaulieu was one of the great pillars of the British Establishment — a peer, descended from dukes and marquesses, who could have stepped straight out of the pages of a P. G. Wodehouse novel.

‘I was born lucky,’ he admitted. ‘Good-looking, well-connected, tolerably well-off as well as having a title which had and still has an irresistible ring to it.’

Born Edward Douglas-Scott-Montagu, he lived in a 13th-century stately home in Beaulieu, Hampshire, which had been in his family since 1538.

The treasures on his 9,000-acre estate include the British National Motor Museum, among the greatest car collections in the world. One of the few hereditary peers to remain in the House of Lords, he was head of countless heritage organisations and charities.

A flamboyant dandy who wore a fur coat and old-fashioned racing goggles when driving, he was a regular at society parties, as happy to hobnob with the likes of Diana Dors and Liberace as royalty.

But Lord Montagu never sought his best-known claim to fame. In 1954, he was jailed for homosexual sex.  (more...)

Secret life of John Leek: A teacher preying on vulnerable boys

It would take 50 years for the truth about John Leek to be
revealed in a Hamilton courtroom earlier this month
John Leek's entire life was seemingly devoted to teaching and comforting children.

He was a trusted teacher, social worker, principal and organist at Hamilton's children's choir. Parents invited him into their homes, unaware they had just welcomed a sexual predator who preyed on vulnerable boys.

It would take 50 years for the truth about Leek to be revealed in a Hamilton courtroom earlier this month.

"Instead of living up to obligations of his roles as a teacher, volunteer … he exploited the trust of victims and families," said assistant Crown attorney Brent Bentham on Aug. 11, the day Leek was convicted of 10 sex charges against seven victims from the mid-1960s to 1980.

"His standing in the community was the very currency by which he was able to sexually abuse the victims and get away with it for this long period of time."  (more...)

In ten to thirty years, the survivors will speak out

The New York Times reported this week  that the American Boy Scouts are ending a nationwide ban on gay leaders. According to the Times, the organization was seeking to resolve an issue that threatened to tear apart the organization and expose it to crippling lawsuits. Discrimination based on sexual orientation will also be barred in all Boy Scout offices and for all paid jobs. The step, the paper says, is aimed at heading off lawsuits in New York, Colorado and other states that prohibit such discrimination in employment.

It's a pity, however, that the Times missed a shocking story which emerged at the same time as jubilation over the new policy. If they had the stomach for it, it might make readers think twice about the wisdom of allowing the Boy Scouts to have gay leaders.

It is the story of Moira Greyland, a woman who has made a career for herself as a harpist of Celtic music and the founder of two opera companies in the United States. She is the daughter of two American writers. Her mother, Marion Zimmer Bradley, who died in 1999, was a revered author of science fiction and fantasy novels. Her best-known book is the Mists of Avalon, a feminist reimagining of the Arthurian legend. Her second husband, and Moira’s father, Walter Breen, wrote books on numismatics. But her parents had other interests, too.

The story emerged last year when a blogger published two searing autobiographical poems written by Greyland. It was already a matter of public record that Breen was a convicted child abuser who died in jail in 1993. But no one had known how Moira’s own mother treated her. “She was cruel and violent, as well as completely out of her mind sexually,” she wrote in an accompanying email. The news was so convincing that other science fiction writers were horrified and speechless. Some of her fans burned her books.

This week, Greyland gave more details about her childhood on another blog.
"Suffice to say that both parents wanted me to be gay and were horrified at my being female. My mother molested me from ages 3-12. The first time I remember my father doing anything especially violent to me I was five. Yes he raped me. I don’t like to think about it."
Bradley and Breen were part of the gay and bi-sexual subculture of West Coast America. That they were paedophiles was just an added extra, as their daughter testifies.  (more...)

Boy Scouts executive committee endorses ending ban on gay leaders

The executive committee of the Boy Scouts of America has unanimously approved a resolution that would drop the group’s blanket ban on openly gay leaders, a key step that puts the organization on the verge of its second historic shift in three years.

While the proposed change stops short of requiring all Scout units to allow gay leaders, it would dismantle a rule that the group’s president described earlier this year as an existential threat to the 105-year-old institution.

This resolution, approved on Friday, now goes to the organization’s national executive board. If the group ratifies the change during a meeting on July 27, it would become official Scouts policy.

“What this means is that gay adults who want to get involved, and there are lots of them, they can put the uniform back on, and they can serve openly and honestly in an inclusive unit that will accept them,” Zach Wahls, an Eagle Scout and executive director of Scouts for Equality, said in a telephone interview Monday. “I couldn’t be happier about that.”  (more...)

It Takes a Village to Rape a Child: The Shame of Richmond Council

Tony McSweeney: A paedophile priest
While the latest horrors over Jimmy Savile dominated the headlines, a Roman Catholic priest became the first person to be convicted as a paedophile under the Met Police’s Operation Fernbridge.

The investigation into both the notorious Elm Guest House and a Richmond Council children’s home, Grafton Close, saw Father Tony McSweeney convicted on a specimen charge of indecent assault and three charges of making indecent images of children on his computer. He was cleared of three other charges of indecent assault.

The trial would have been much bigger if not for the death of his co-accused John Stingemore just before facing prosecution. Stingemore, as my colleague Tim Wood who reported the trial for Exaro shows, was portrayed by McSweeney as a paedophile. and it emerged in court that Stingemore had already been convicted as paedophile for the sexual assault of Peter Borshin, a resident of Grafton Close home.

The trial reveals two shocking facts. First it shows that yet another paedophile Roman Catholic priest – McSweeney will be sentenced on March 27 – has escaped justice for some 35 years and been able to work as a pillar of the community across the East of England. He has even gathered a  bit of celebrity stardust- marrying the boxer Frank Bruno – and when caught with child  sex abuse images he made on his computer he was a member of the scouting movement and worked with the Norwich City youth football team.

Second is the shame it has heaped on Richmond Council which failed to act at the time to halt these crimes and has been in denial ever since this investigation began.   (more...)

Former Scout leader arrested for sexual assault

A former Scout leader has been charged with sexual assault involving children.

Police say the alleged assaults took place between 1992 and 2003 in the area of Queen St. E. and Jones Ave.

A man allegedly gained access to two children through a family he befriended, aged 2 and 12 and 2 and 7 during the time of the assaults. Police allege he sexually assaulted these children on numerous occasions.

Police arrested Jeremy Nathaniel Gregg, 45, on Tuesday. He faces seven counts of sexual assault, seven counts of sexual exploitation and three counts of invitation to sexual touching.

During the time of the assaults, Gregg worked for Scouts Canada as a Scout leader in Toronto, police said.

Police believe there may be more victims  (more...)

Ottawa: Scott Stanley, ex-Scouts leader, sentenced to 5 years for sex assaults

Scott Stanley, a former Scouts Canada leader, has been sentenced to five years less time served after pleading guilty to luring and repeatedly molesting four Ottawa-area boys.

In determining the sentence, Justice Heather Perkins-McVey noted that it was Stanley's first offence, that he pleaded guilty and said she believes he is remorseful and wants treatment, but she also noted there were four victims.

The four boys, who were involved in Scouts Canada, were "scarred" by Stanley's actions, Perkins-McVey said Wednesday, and "will carry these scars with them for the rest of their lives."

Stanley will get credit for time already served in pre-custody and under house arrest, so his actual time in prison will be three years and 281 days.  (more...)

Scott Stanley tells court he 'hates' himself for child luring

A former Scouts Canada leader told the court, "who I am hates who I've been and what I've done," during a speech at his sentencing hearing after admitting to luring four boys and repeatedly molesting them.

With a shaky voice, Scott Stanley spoke on Thursday afternoon in an Ottawa courtroom after his lawyer asked for a sentence of three years less a day, while the Crown asked for six to eight years of incarceration.

Stanley, 30, was a volunteer with Scouts Canada for five years, beginning in 2009. He is also a former City of Ottawa lifeguard and swim coach.

Stanley pleaded guilty in late June to 10 counts of sexual interference, three counts of luring and three counts of invitation to sexual touching. The incidents occurred when the boys were between 12 and 15 years old.  (more...)

Epidemic: Multiple child sex abuse allegations reported over past few weeks

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - A middle school math teacher and Boy Scout troop leader accused of sexually abusing children bonded out of jail Thursday.

Detectives in Rowan County say James Barringer III molested three young boys. Barringer is just the latest person in our area whose job it was to take care of your children, but is now charged with sex crimes.

The following men and woman mentioned below were not registered sex offenders before their alleged encounters. That's why it is difficult for parents to track people that may bring harm to their child. A local child psychologist has ideas for what parents can say to kids that makes sense and keeps them safe.  (more...)

Scouting’s Next Battleground

Disney is the latest corporation to announce an end to financial support for the Boy Scouts of America (BSA) because of the Boy Scouts’ ban on openly gay adult Scout leaders. Joining former BSA sponsors—including Lockheed Martin, Major League Soccer, UPS, and others that have ended relationships with the BSA—Walt Disney World announced that it will no longer support the organization. The BSA’s official position bans openly gay Scout leaders, even though on May 23, 2013, following years of public pressure, the organization’s national governing body voted to lift its long-standing ban on openly gay youth in the program.

Now, the pressures are mounting to remove the ban on openly gay leaders.  (more...)

Former Oshawa Scout leader guilty of abusing boys

OSHAWA -- A former Oshawa Scout leader used his position of trust to exploit young boys for his sexual gratification, a judge has heard.

His crimes were committed decades ago, but Stanley Marcus “Mark” Brown was finally confronted by his victims Wednesday, when he pleaded guilty to abusing nine boys in the early 1970s.

“He used us,” one of the men, now in middle age, said as he read a victim impact statement at Mr. Brown’s sentencing hearing in Oshawa.

“He was a human hunter.”   (more...)

Former BBC broadcaster facing jail after being found guilty of 26 child sex offences

Michael Souter, 60, was convicted of 26 offences
A former BBC presenter has been found guilty of 26 child sex offences spanning two decades and faces jail.

Michael Souter, 60, was found guilty of offences against seven boys aged 11-16, including indecent assault, indecency with a child and serious sexual offences.
The crimes took place between 1979 and 1999.

Police also confirmed today that they are investigating further claims against the presenter, who was said to use his status as a local celebrity to prey on vulnerable boys.

...

Souter, from Loddon, Norfolk, was found guilty of the 26 counts in a hearing at Norwich Crown Court. Jurors failed to reach a verdict on one count of indecent assault and cleared him of one charge of possessing an indecent photograph.

Prosecutors described Souter, who was also involved in the Scouts and a social services youth mentoring scheme, as a ‘sexual deviant’ obsessed with young boys in uniform.

During the five week trial, Andrew Shaw told jurors that Souter used his celebrity status to abuse society’s most vulnerable.  (more...)

Former BBC radio Norfolk presenter 'used his celebrity status to abuse young boys

Souter of Loddon, Norfolk, had also been involved
in the scout movement, the prosecution say
A former BBC radio presenter had a 'deviant sexual obsession' with young boys and used his celebrity to abuse society's most vulnerable, a court has heard.

Ex-BBC Norfolk broadcaster Michael Souter, 60, denies 19 sex offences, including indecent assault, indecency with a child and serious sexual offences, against seven boys aged between 11 and 16.

The allegations date to between 1979 and 1999.

Opening the case at Norwich Crown Court, prosecutor Andrew Shaw said Souter, of Loddon, Norfolk, had also been involved in the scout movement and volunteered as youth mentor for the county’s social services department.

Mr Shaw added: 'He worked in radio and television and was something of a local celebrity.

'The significance of his work and his involvement with the scouts and social services, is that these three roles brought Mr Souter into regular contact with pliable young boys and very often pliable young boys who were among society’s most vulnerable.

'We say Mr Souter is a deviant sexual abuser of young boys, particularly boys in uniform and those wearing shorts.'  (more...)

Catholic Parish to Boy Scout troop: Obey the faith on homosexuality or go somewhere else

ALTOONA, WI, August 8, 2013 (LifeSiteNews.com) – A Catholic parish in Wisconsin has told the Boy Scout troop it has sponsored for the last 20 years that it will have to find a new home in response to the troop’s decision to allow practicing homosexuals to join.

The Boy Scouts of America voted in May to overturn its longstanding policy barring openly gay scouts, and instead allowed troops to include gay scouts if they choose.

Boy Scout Troop 90, which meets at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Altoona, revised its membership policy to state that no boy could be denied membership “on the basis of sexual orientation or preference alone.”

Scoutmaster Bob Thill told the Eau Claire Leader-Telegram that while Troop 90’s families were evenly split on the issue, the troop changed the rule because “it's the way of the times, and I guess you've got to keep up with it.”

But Fr. Derek Sakowski, St. Mary's pastor, said he objects to the policy’s use of the term “sexual preference,” criticizing it as too vague. He pointed out that while same-sex attraction is not a sin according to the Catholic Church, homosexual behavior is.  (more...)
